Yes. All the time truck ignition is on ABS module has power. Emergency power coming from tail brake light for vehicles before ABS was mandatory. You better to fix it asap as it's OOS vehicle condition.
Check is +12 volt on central wire of pigtail. Remember IGNITION IS ON. If you have power on pigtail end look into receptacle central prong, clean all old grease out, wide it slightly with knife or flat screwdriver. If still no power to the ABS module go under trailer and look for connector just before tandems slide. Check any damage to the suspended part of wire.
Will do. It's a frameless dump trailer so I'm guessing the wire has moved plenty over the years. Is there anything else that would cause this just in case I find power at the module?
I don't think you have bigger problem. You can google ABS module connection diagram and check power right on ABS module. ABS module itself signalling you it's working properly and ABS light is in working condition by flashing every time it's get power from brake light.
Trailer shop or some truck stop shops can plug in computer to trailer and find what is causing problems. Faster than trying to find it on your own.
Like others said most likely no power to the abs. I had the same problem it turn out to be the trailer power supply relay.
Great idea. I don't have too many local options here so I'll take a peak at it. If I can't get it I'll be using your idea. This is my first trailer so I was unaware they could plug into them also. Thanks again for your help.
