One that I took off today and tore apart seemed to be a sealed incandescent unit. Since I busted it while trying to get to the bulb, I had to replace it as I'm running tomorrow. I did order 16 amber LED units that I'll be replacing in short order.

i'd say smash the lights, chisel the screws, use a punch to get them out, replace the wiring, use stainless hardware , electrical grease, and if budget allows it use LED's i picked up some 8 diode trucklite amber marker lights at the kw dealer last week for 6.99 you might wanna look around and see if you find a deal. Good Luck !

OK, I've received the LED's I ordered and have replace a couple that I had to take a hammer to in order to get them removed. My question is this...
The lights I have are a direct replacement for the incandescent lights I'm replacing, wiring, mounting holes etc... The current lights on the trailer have a white base between them and the trailer. Not even thinking, I replaced two lights without the white base (bases were smashed anyways). The lights work just fine. Do I need to buy these white bases for these lights? I really can't see what purpose they serve other than to stand-off the lights from the truck a bit.
Here's a photo of the lights I got... they're not showing a white base and the LED's seem to be sealed inside the amber case or lense.
Your opinions and advice are appreciated

On the incandescent lights, could you take the lens off of the white base to get to the bulbs to replace them? If not, I don't know what the white bases are for either. If the new LED is sealed, I wouldn't think it would hurt anything to not run the base. If the new ones were sold as if they could be used for a new installation, surely there's no harm running them that way. I'm sure these are the same thoughts you're having, just another brain confirming that you're OK.
Gears Thanks this.
