So I was bored today and scrolling through my dash and found this. It is trailer detect. I could turn it on or off. It doesn't seem to do anything. I don't have an owners manual so I thought I'd ask if anyone knew what it was.
I got nothing, except to say that my new pickup notifies me when a trailer is connected or disconnected. Somehow it can even tell if all the trailer lights are working without even turning the lights on. Maybe that does the same?
Did you pay extra for that option? I’m pretty sure you’d have figured out the trailer was there before you got the key in it.
Does it have the blindspot warning systems? It could use this to determine the range of the sensors used to warn of vehicles in the blindspot. Only thing I can think of...
It's the power to the trailer. If that option is enabled it will throw warning or code that the power junction has failed. I also read that if enabled, and a trailer swap is performed, driver may have to shut down the tractor and restart so the system sees fresh. That, to me, is a wtf ..... are my trailer lights on? Gee, I dunno, what do the MIRRORS say about it?
You just outed yourself. Another dinosaur from when the engine control module, anti-lock brake system, light monitors, speed limiter, traction control and collision avoidance systems were all installed between the seat and the steering wheel.
