Spoken just like the guy who found out he missed his raise yet again:biggrin_2552:

Takes about a minute to adjust if properly maintained. Your absolutely right far to much work for the average driver. Probably why that guy is getting average pay huh?

Same here, pulling a 13' tall 106" wide 4 axle conestoga loaded heavy with a day cab. That combo just screams fuel economy.:biggrin_2559:

I personally dont think the gap between the trailer and the sleeper has any affect on mileage, same goes for those goofy-### trailer skirts. I get around the same mileage either way. When we got our truck, I tried to keep the 5th wheel as far forward as possible so that I had no more than 12,350lbs of weight on the steers but now, it stays almost half-way back because Im finding out that my steers last longer, and the front-end ride quality is smoother when I keep the steer-axle around 11,1k to 11,5k. Mileage never changed. Depending on the terrain and the weight of the load, I average between 6.6 to 8.5 mpg regardless if my 5th-wheel is all the way forward or in the middle or, the trailer i happen to have at the time has them airplane wings on it or not.

You leasin' or company? Every now and then England changes their stance on the 5th-wheel policy. You just have to be at one of the terminals at the right time. Not sure if when they change their mind for a while and allow the re-installation of the air cylinders, if they are lettin' company trucks have a moveable 5th wheel or not, well, except if you are on a Walmart or container fleet.....

I got mine from a mechanic and installed it myself........

I keep my a little behind the center of the tandems. Pulling a 48' spread axle flatbed, aero dynamics arent a big issue, a pete 379 daycab isnt the moat aero dynamic to begin with. Plus, i can always load further back on the trailer since i can put 40,000 on the trailer (20,000 per axle)
