Trailer locks

    Most of my shippers/receivers like it when they see me at the trailer door removing a lock when docking, or putting one on when leaving.....

    BUT......

    I am tired of replacing locks because they have gotten so rusted/corroded, that they are useless and unable to (un)lock because of it.....

    Does anyone have a source to a lock that will not corrode? Hopefully with a round barrel key (like one of those heavy $@$#/ u-type bike locks)?

    Links would be great.....

    Use a combination bike lock. Why not? The ones with the big arch should go on easily and with the combo, no key to jam up

    Most my locks I have on my flatbed from chain over tarps to lock for boxes or headache rack chains and binders. I spray them regularly with wd40 and some Vaseline in the key hole. To block debris.

    Locks are needing regular maintenance.

    But those will still corrode in the dials or the knob mechanism... Worse yet, the actual locking mechanism.....

    Looking for one that is either weather proof(not like my first waterproof watch that read 100 m, you would think that meant DOWN, right? Nope..... STRAIGHT LINE! I swam competitively at the time and 2 laps it was full!), OR corrosion proof....

    Abloy PL342. Expensive, but all stainless and brass. You'll see that type on a lot of mega trailers.

    I only lock when parked .. occasionally I’ll leave it on when weather is dry...

    I go through 1 or 2 a year.... I don't buy the big time locks you can't shoot off with a gun anymore, your decent size master lock is fine. Big enough you can't cut with standard size bolt cutters. Small enough the 36" bolt cutters will cut it off. Costs me like $20/year. For this reason I also quit using those round locks. I don't have a universal opener if it were to eventually jam up.
