I’m over height with my step Conestoga. What is the minimum vertical tire to trailer clearance I should set ride height to?

16” is the minimum on a dry van from center of axle to the bottom rail of the tandem.

start at that number and go up by 1/2” increments.

Over 14’? Up here those trailers run on an exemption for height and width. Wording in the regs, load security and load covering don’t count toward overall dimension, just the load. I don’t know if you’re on exemption or permit, but you should be over height if you’re looking for 13’6”. You should be able to close it over a load that measures 13’6” from the ground and 102” wide.

Good to know!!!! Yeah I wondered how they got away with the width. I’ll have to dig a little deeper.

Check your permit book. If you don’t have annual permits in there specific to the kit you’re on exemptions. I’m just not sure how they dealt with it stateside.
