Trailer tandem release from cab

    Is it just a solenoid/actuator added to air release tandems?

    That's what I thought at first but no, they really do have a release from the cab.

    I had 5th wheel release from the cab on the last company trucks I drove. It was linehaul and we used it all the time. I'd love to have that again.

    Yes, but it has to bypass the brakes being set. Wiring from the cab, Two T fittings, couple feet of line and a solenoid. Also had a dump on the rear axle.

    I have the kingpin release button on my truck, but I never use it. I prefer to just pull the 5th wheel handle myself. I have to get out of the truck anyway to lower the landing gear and disconnect the air lines and electrical lines
    Those 5th wheel release buttons frequently become defective.
