So it looks like this may be my only option in order to meet all CA's requirements and be at least a little bit versatile for other states. It's going to be heavy as an extendable with a 16' deck height though!

I looked at an XL set up just like that, It was used and they wanted a little too much.

I guess it depends on what type of work you do but would you recommend the rub rail / outrigger combo on the sides of the main deck or the main beam at full width? This won't be for hauling 50 or 60 ton excavators, more like the odd 320 or loaders, regular size and over dimensional crates.

Anyone seen one of these before? 14" deck height still with 5" clearance underneath, matched with a hydro neck this makes it a nice low pro trailer. No extendability with such a shallow deck though.
