Stop calling the trainer. Let management handle it.Lepton1, LoSt_AgAiN and TripleSix Thank this.

If a deskjockey has 40 people to keep tabs of, they will arrange things in their mind in order of importance, right? A trainee sitting in a motel is not high on the list. Blow that phone up. And when things are groovin, they will never hear from you. They will go all out to keep it that way.
Now, I am not saying be belligerent and obnoxious, be calm and professional. And when they start saying stuff to hurry and get you off the phone ("Hey Six, I didn't forget about you. I am checking on it right now. As soon as I get off the phone with you, I will do _____"), s l o w d o w n. "I see (pause)....so,(pause)... I should be hearing back from you (pause)... in 5 minutes?"
They will dread ever again talking to you on the phone.Lepton1, gentleroger, Trucking in Tennessee and 1 other person Thank this. -
Not when you take the bad weather in the south into account.

Six I agree with you in principal, but that winter storm really did a job on things here in the southeast. Hopefully within another 48 hours things will return to some kind of normal (normal << that scares me)

See you are learning

Exactly. Maybe he had to put a fire out somewhere. Maybe another trainer quit. With the turnover there is no telling. For them to keep paying him money and motel it's certainly an issue. $50 is really cheap though. Per diem is $35.

I know I'm in a crotchety mood this morning and have to tell you there is sometimes no excuse for some of this crap >>>> the company should be talking to him every day, either with him calling them or they calling him to bring him up to date.Lepton1 Thanks this.

The last orientation I was at the person running it was clear to all the new drivers. She said that there was no guarantee you would not have to wait for a while to be assigned a trainer. If you were not within 2 weeks call her. This is the weak link where trucking is concerned.

And I agree. The thing is with this weather being what it is the company might not have anything new to report. I suggest a morning and afternoon call to the company. As six said, let them know you are waiting. My point is things were not normal over the weekend here.Lepton1 Thanks this.
