    Almost all of us were counting the days while we were with our trainers. But the number of days is not the right number to focus on. 28 days is not the magic number. It is a minimum. 200 hours on line 3 is the magic number. Some people get their 200 in 28 days, some it takes a little longer.

    Ah, your learning there young man. One thing I've learned through life is, whenever you get the chance to pick someone's brain for info, who has, ''been there, done that'', DO IT! Take it all in, ask questions every step of the way. Nice part about being with a trainer is, you get instant feedback. {hopefully}
    Yes you want to drive, but learn the way the company works also. Eliminate as much uncertainty as you can. Take it all in and take some notes . Write down things that are important about all the aspects of the job that you might not remember. The trainer won' be there when you sitting somewhere wondering what you should do.
    Good luck!

    Ugh , well I am down for a day due to the truck being in the shop . It has a leak on the air dryer system , so we pick it up in the morning at mccoy freighliner in portland Oregon. Oh well gives me a day to have some mental rest lol.

    I'll say this as well . I have been away from home for like 3 and a half weeks , now its not that I am homesick cause I love seeing new places , however I miss my kid sooo bad its not even funny ( and my wife )
    I will get through it though. As long as I can keep busy its not so bad , but when I have down time like now its a little rough cause all I can do is sit here and think about familly ..

    Thanks again guys and gals......

    That's got to be hard I'm sure. I think being absent from day to day family life is the hardest part of the trucking industry. I know it's hard, but keep your eye on the prize. You are building a future for your family. You'll get through it I'm sure of that.

    What helped us is Skype or FaceTime... Not the same, but you can SEE them... Share a drawn picture, a smile, a laugh... Just a thought :)

    When I went through training 8 weeks was the standard. You need a minimum of 6 weeks if you are a good student. Any shorter is cutting you loose prematurely.

    Don't get in a hurry. There'll be a day you wish you were still young and in training! :)

    Well I am on week 3 I think lol. It all kinda runs together . Well so far I have like 5500 miles and 100 hours . We pick up tonight then hopefully run all week if freight is there cause of the holiday .

    What's really cool is my trainer left me run the last two loads by myself , so I chose where to take my breaks and everything . It was awsome so I get a good veiw on how to plan trips.

    I try to update as much as possible but dam I am busy , lol

    I'm glad he's doing that... My trainer didn't, but he knew I was going to be teaming with my husband when I got out on the road... Where yes trip planning IS important, but there is another log book available. Then got to take a mini quiz on upgrade and felt like a fish out of water!! LOL! But I passed, and here I am... Taking my 30, eating my dinner and reading the forums ;)

    I am gonna take it all in while I can , cause eventually he is not going to be there for me when I have a question or need some input .

    Its a very good experience so far.
