i know the company and i know the run. and i might know the trainer now, but this is normal for him on that run. like i had said in a pm, all he cares about is the money. the same with that run, it is the customer that requires a team to run it.
does not surprise me at all.
plus they might even put you with another trainer who could be alot worse and with alot less experience.
like i said, their training program is not up to par, and the trainers do what they want and lie to the man in charge of the training program.
they say they do one thing but do another.

Cypher.....
Sounds like you have a bad situation. What's worse, the more you complain, the worse it is going to get. What these other drivers are saying is quite true. Unfortunately, as a new driver fresh out of school, you have absolutely no clout with a company. For obvious reasons, when it comes to your word against a company approved trainer, you most likely don't stand a chance.
I was VERY LUCKY. I had probably one of the best trainers out there when I cut my teeth.
I know this is going to sound stupid or crazy, but if you think about it, it will eventually make sense.
Keep your mouth shut (yeah I know there are those of you that will argue this). Think about it.... you are probably not the first person to complain about this trainer, but he is still training, right? If you want to work for this company (or keep your driving career intact), just bite your lip, get through the training, and THEN make the difference. Once you get your own truck, you can do it the way you want to (within company guidelines).
Now I will say that if you REALLY feel your life is in danger, then I would contact the fleet manager or someone up the line, but you need to realize that this is not the only guy out there that does this. There are many more stories just like yours. And like someone else said, if you get the reputation of being a whiner, it won't fare well for you. Corporate generally can't "feel" for you because they never experienced it. This includes a large percentage of dispatchers. So you can talk until you are blue in the face, but they aren't going to be able to share your feelings.
If it were me, I would talk to the trainer. Maybe say something like "I am really sorry I got so upset about this. Being new, I guess I had different thoughts about how it would be. I really appreciate what you are teaching me, and I want to learn more from you." A little "fluffy", but you will feed his ego, disarm him, and most likely make it the rest of the way through training. Which is what you need to do.....
Then get your own truck and do it right.....
You'll be just fine -
""I'm going to make sure you never drive a truck again"
Details about this part of the conversation, please. -
he told me those exact words for grinding a gear... That I swear to god is ALL I did.. My kids futures flashed before my eyes

I gotta go with scooter on this one, it will be hard, but the training is the most important part to get through. Bite your lip and try not to kill the SOB before your done.
-
Yeah, scooter is right. If something happens it's his ###, not yours, i would just suck it up and get it over with, just humor him and try your best to not rip his head off.. I know it's hard being stuck in a truck for a week or so with someone that you can't stand... but it's your best chance at this point, when you get your own truck and start learning on your own some of what he's doing might even make a little more sense.
-
Do exactly what others are telling you. Keep your mouth shut & learn as much as you can while you can. You'll be in your own truck soon & can then do what you choose. May I suggest reading the linked thread about running 100% legal....

####... Even back when I trained, I didn't care for my trainer. But I did what I had too. The man even peed on my jacket while I was driving... I kept my mouth shut & finished my training.
This is trucking... Not the Hilton nor Burger King. No one is going to hold your hand & pet your head saying that you will be OK. And you defiantly won't get it your way!Last edited: Sep 17, 2009

Yeah what's with that dad told you not to give out any info? Don't you see all the posts from us bashing companies openly on here? It's not going to matter, nobody knows who you are and i doubt that they care.. Just spit the info out already and warn the others if it's that bad.

How can the trainer run illegal with out using your book? When your logs don't match his and/or truck location safety/logs should catch that w/o you saying anything. If his log started in atlanta and 16hrs later you're 960mls away w/o you showing any drive time then ray charles could catch that violation.
