22 year olds with 1-1/2 years of experience supposedly putting drivers with more than 5 years experience who have not been driivng within the past few years.

New drivers with little experience, they've never driven a stick shift nor driven in snow... WTF.

I wonder how the OM would have handled it.

Sounds like your trainer wanted to put a ring on it

For real though, my trainer was my older cousin. He had net negative patience and we’d ALWAYS get to yelling and cursing, BUT he always got me to do each skill right. Drilled into my head about time wasting, understanding the space of your truck/trailer. Would put me in the absolute tightest spots to back up and offer no help. Would stop the truck and make me start off on a big hill grossing 80k. Everything a new driver is scared of he made me do every single day. Best trainer I could’ve gotten, even though he’s an ###whole

I could only thank this once, but the story is the same for me, my trainer (DAD) has also been gone 22 years.

Riding with him growing up and watching his every move while driving has taught me everything I needed to get started and as of this day I’m still learning everyday.

Don’t ever think you know it all because you will always continue to learn new things everyday!!!

And as Bean jr said, Miss you DAD!!!

tscottme, Diesel73 and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Among the things my dad taught me, I remember this the most based on how he taught it. Back then there was the blue button. I asked him what it was for. Instead of telling me, he showed me. He pumped the air down until they popped, then he pushed the blue button, which charged the system and allowed him to release the brakes.

You have some great memories between you and Mr. Bean Sr.
Good to hear that he left his mark in this world.

I’d love to try training… I don’t have much experience, but the bar for a “decent” trainer seems pretty low. My company seems to think “doubling” your income is all the incentive needed (by “teaming”); I told them they’d have to agree to my terms or I’m not interested, I don’t care about money; I don’t like being “late,” so running as super single is appealing.

Instead, they removed me from the email list they had been sending out periodically advertising this “great opportunity;” it’s been over year since I received anything.

Good move on your part. It's a thankless job. You put your life in someone else's hands.
You need the patience of a Christian saint or a Buddhist monk.
But somebody has to do it, judging by the lack of skills and courtesy displayed by so many 'drivers'.
