Welcome to the Con-way family! Hope to meet you some day. My favorite of our terminals is West Memphis, Arkansas... just a lighter atmosphere. The asphalt street going in is a bear, though. Be safe out there.
Here I am , I just got home again 3 wks out . They have been keeping me busy .Sorry I cant respond much I should be getting a new laptop w/wifi account soon and that will be better. I have not been at many terminals this time out so I have not been able to get good free wifi serv. But things are still going good I went from Dallas to Cololardo what a preety ride that was to see that landscape and those snowcapped mountains I could of drove all day 7 night & then some.Rob good to here I have seen those guys work that redemption truck just keep pileing those bags in and dont get any on ya congrats 53s right?. Cfi team glad those guys are cruisin and having fun. Thanks for keeping thing moving on this post its good to see 12 pages and everyone getting good advise.
Mikel, glad to hear from you, was getting a little worried about you since it had been awhile. The boys have been staying very busy, sometimes a little busier than they'd really like to be, I tell them they should feel very lucky because I read on here a lot of drivers that arent' getting enough miles to survive on. They thought they would ease into the big miles but it didn't happen that way. This week they are having their lowest miles so far but they had to take the truck to a Kenworth dealer near Dallas for repairs so they lost a day or so, they were okay with it, it gave them time to catch their breath and get rested. They will still have around 4200 miles for the week which they are happy with. They've been stuck out on the west coast for quite some time now, going up and down Cali, been to Oregon and today they are in Washington but then they go back to Cali, they have to be home by the night of May 2nd because oldest son has national guard duty on the 3rd and 4th so after this delivery to Cali on Saturday night, I'm guessing that they will start heading them back this way (we live in Florida). That's one good thing about having the National Guard duty, I always know when they will be home! Once you get your laptop and wifi going, you'll have to keep us updated more often on your travels, look forward to reading about your adventures!
Yes, 53's & a 48. They had a pup but its going back. They were using it for the cape run but as summer gets here we will need the 48's. I just finished my first week. I took my road test both bobtail and with the 53,Blind side backed, dropped & hook. City traffic & highway. The job is physical, the bags do pile up & its gets on you(stale beer & soda). But, I get experience,Good pay, Weekends off, excellent benefits and I get to finally lose a good amount of weight. Glad to here all is well with you mike.
hey everyone, refresher week almost done. Did the skid pad today, man did that rock. Also did my road test and passed it. so now two more tests to go, a paper and pretrip inspection (shiver) thats my weakness. One quick thing, I will never ever recommend the school i went to to anyone. If you are going to go to any school, do the one in Neosho MO. Crowder Truckdriving school. Its awesome. Ill post again when i find out if im hired on fulltime yet...im hopin i am. James.
Dont worry About that pre trip they will mock most of it and if you have been there long enough to get that far chances are you will be on board.good luck.
