No,local for stericycle4. I have a friend with conway ltl and Mikel is with conway truckload. Its been some time since his last update.
-
Oh, so you were just starting you run. Sounds like a good gig. How do you like it?
-
Much better now. When I first started I had a rough 3 days. They jumped on me for going slower than they thought I should go.They slip seat trucks. I told them I know where I need to improve and will imprrove. Its my first 3 days pulling doubles,(a set) night driving, going down winding hills of I 84. then I told them its my license,my life and I'm not speeding or risking it for anyone. The senior drivers backed me and said exactly what I said. The head driver checks with me to make sure they're not messing with me anymore. Everything is going great. I'm exceeding their time and now, they're late having the trailers ready for me which is a delay and I get an extra hour because of it.

hows the leg? -
It's good to hear that your co-workers are standing up for the new guy.
So what's it like pulling a double? Are they tough to hook up? -
At first they piss you off hooking them up and your scared the first time you go down hill & winding roads, rainy days and the FOG. But as time goes on you get more comfortable with them. The second one follows the first or as they say kites. I still have some good days hooking and some bad days hooking them up but I'm getting better. I've talked to some of the visiting truck drivers at night and they always say I remember those days, now i just drop & hook 4.8's & 53's. That would be nice one day.
I'm going to put this on your thread so we dont tie up mikes -
mikel and other new Conway FTL'ers,
Thanks for the heads up on orientation and training. Looks like I too will be going to Joplin either 12/8 or 12/15 ( I graduate from my community college CDL 300 hr. training on 12/5). It's really great to hear that what the recruiter is actualy true!
All the Conway FTL drivers that have posted here seem to be sharp individuals, and that is very comforting. Looking forward to the Crowder week, it seems very similar to the way I am currently being trained.
Best to all,
CaptK
