Hello ,from Oklahoma city its Wed afternoon I finally get to have some sunshine .I havent seen the sun in about two weeks it has just been cold and dismol ,Also able to get to a truck stop with "wifi" Petro truck stop. I drove all night to get here left Decatur,IL last night at 9pm and got here at 5:30 am .This was my first long haul I got to do all the driving. The ride was good time just seemed to fly by ,By the way I drove all the way no stops for any thing true trucking style.Speed limit out here is 75 my truck is governed at 70mph is supposed to be 64mph .This is why I wont give my truck number out . But everything is great, get to polish up everything I have learned. This is, so far better, than I hoped and relise this was a good decision. Also the truck stops are not as bad as they are said to be. I have not been to a lot but the ones I have been to are clean and no lizards.Clean private showers.

Yes test, just because they got to go there does not meen they get the job,It is up to the people at crowder to determen that they will be good enough to go with a trainer ( finisher) to polish up on things, to go out on your own.How are the boys doing do they go on there night drive tonight 3:30 am . That is what time I will be hitting the road going to Arkansas. Well I will try to get back here as I am not always at the WIFI spots.

Hey Mike great job, I started the fueler job last night. It went great a lot of drop & hooks, post trip inspections and bumping the dock with 53 ft and straights, I coupled to a triaxel and the backed it into the garage. Fueled up the tucks, returned them to the dock, did paperwork and went home. Not bad only $13 hr but hey I'm in the trucks. Called TM from ABF back to night he called and wants to go over application and interview. Hoping for the best. Another class b job called me for an interview for march 13th. Hopefully I'll be with a trucking company by then.

Mikel, does your finisher work with you on logging and trip planning? In your waiting for a load times, does he have you practicing things that you may still need work on, or do you just sit in the truck and wait? Glad to hear it's all going so well for you! Today is Friday and the boys are still there, so I hope that is a good sign! What day do you know that you have definitely been hired?

Mike, Interview went great with ABF. The TM approved my application and is now sending it off to Arkansas for approval. I should hear back in 2-4 wks, He said to continue to do landscaping on the side because at this time its slow and at the start I will work a few days a week and will then goto Fort Smith for Schooling. He said In this business sometimes its about great timing and persistence. He said I was very persistent and respectful every-time I called him and he told me to called back. (Persistence goes a long way) I thanked my union school director and my cousin & his friend for putting in the good word.It worked! I brought the TM copies of my Drivers License,Driving record,Med card,Graduation certificate and BCI. He told me to come here and work hard, be on time and he will be happy. Keep Me Posted.:biggrin_25519:

My finisher is pretty laid back he will have me look at the map and tell him the way that i would go and if he has a better way to go he will tell me and tell me why he would go that way do to heavy traffic or better truck stops . So yes he will work on that with you but map knowledge does help there is stuff on his maps that I didnt know where on a map. There are symbols for wiegh stations and miles between mile markers. On wait time you get a shower and sleep and eat you have to be in the right spot to do some practice but time goes by fast . You are always in a diffrent place.Im in dallas ,Tx Leaving in the morning to go to Ct for tues early am.

I like that, a lot. It sounds like you have a awesome finisher. AFter reading some of the experiences others have had with the "in-cab" portion of the training, it's encouraging to read this. Best of luck to you and thanks for posting these experiences.
