Talked to John again, they already got another load, delivering to New Mexico. I really hope things pick back up for you, I can imagine how disappointing it is for you to be stuck in a hotel. I guess there's worse things in life, but I know you would like to get the training done and over with and get out there on your own. Just try to enjoy the down time as much as you can, before long you'll probably be wishing you had some free time! :biggrin_255:

Glad to hear you're back at it. I've been wondering how it was going for you. Both boys are doing very well. Talked to them last night. One was in Denver, heading to Iowa and then back to Texas. The other was in Kansas, heading to Kentucky and then to Texas as well. Both are very happy with their trainers and from what they are telling me, sounds like they are being taught some very important things that will help keep them safe out there. I have to say that at this point, CFI has done very well with their treatment of them. As a mother, I worry about them all the time so it is a relief to hear good things from them and to know they are in good hands. Yesterday, the one son only had to drive about 300 miles so the trainer had time to go over some "non driving" things with him. He showed him how to adjust the brakes, details about checking different things on the truck which was good because in school, they were told they needed to check these things, but didn't go into detail about what they were actually looking at and how to really check them. They also spent some quality time studying the road atlas, learning how to check for low clearance bridges, etc. He explained the mile marker system to him and what to watch for on road signs. Things some people may take for granted, but other people have no idea about. He also has started making my son keep track of the road signs and occasionally when they pass one, he will ask him, what did that sign say that we just passed? This is good because my son was so intent on his driving that he wasn't paying attention to the signs, he was just letting the trainer keep track of the route, now he is being forced into doing it himself. Keep in mind that my son is only 21 so he doesn't have a lot of experience with driving interstates. Before roadmaster school he had never driven a stick shift, so he has been learning A LOT! Thank goodness, he was given a trainer with patience and a willingness to teach!! :yes2557:

Well glad to hear there doing well, The day i met up with my new trainer I was in a bad mood so when he showed up like 7 hours later than he told me, with no phone call ( I had to sit in the terminal in TX Boring) and said have you been waiting long I just had a feeling things were going to get even worse. That just rubbed me the wrong way and then he had me do some reading in my manual .Like it was some kind of punishment . But I said to myself. Im in a bad mood from waiting all day and I was so far behind in training miles. I thought I would see how the next day was and it did get better ,he is teaching me a lot and we are getting along.

Glad to hear all is well. I filled out more apps and should get a call tomorrow from drivers management services in cumberland. I talked with the recruiter and he told me to come down fill out the application and asked what I've been doing since graduation. I told him about the fueler /yard jockey position backing trucks nightly and he said thats great. I checked out their equipment when I was there and the use pups and 40 ft trailers. My cousin called, his boss fired someone and was asking about me again and should also be calling me this week. My fingers are crossed. Drivers Management pays $17-19 hr for newbies. I'll keep you posted.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you! The boys have also completed their 7500 miles with their trainers. They were dispatched today as a team for the first time. They are headed from Joplin, Mo to Maryland. They are having a great time and were happy with the training they received. Still have only positive things to say about CFI. I am so happy they were hired there and didn't have to go with some of the other training companies I've heard horror stories about. They will be coming home in about 10 days. It seems like forever since I saw them last, so much has happened. They will have a lot of stories to tell me I'm sure! How many miles are you averaging as a solo driver?
