I am about to begin a CDL program at a local college that is 2 months long and over 200 hours. After graduating, I plan on going with Schneider primarily due to the 1 week OTR with a trainer and 2 weeks in class. I don't think I would do well having to live and sleep with someone else on a truck for 4-8 weeks. What other companies do not require you to live on a truck for over a month with a trainer after graduating from a CDL program?

Watkins-Shepard, if you're in the hiring area.
Orientation plus trainer time is total of 10 days.
I know for sure they hire out of Knoxville, but not sure where else in TN. Call and ask.Last edited: Aug 9, 2015

I knew after 4 weeks that I was still not ready to go on my own. I thought after 6 weeks that I was.

Schneider is not a mistake. You may even stay with them.
Good luck.TN_Trucker75 Thanks this. -
This site is such a great source of information. Thanks to all you experienced drivers who contribute here. I have decided to suck it up and welcome a longer training period in order to open up more options for me. Its not that I don't want more training, I am just a very introverted person and I need alone time in order to recharge. However, you guys have convinced me to just get through it and I am determined to do that!
