This will probably be hard to hear but, in all your research ( you did do research, right ) of possible companies that hire new CDL grads, not one of them mentioned going out in a trainers truck for 3 weeks to 3 months. I find it hard to believe that you didn't first find out all the steps necessary to receive your CDL...... told you it would be hard.
tscottme Thanks this. -
You guys don't understand! This is Naked and Afraid Trucking he's signing on with.

We moved down to Florida because of my wife's job. I use to drive locally in Toronto and the pay was good and no issues. After moving to Florida I expected to do the same but I did not expect the extremely low pay for local work. So plans changed and I have to look into dedicated or regional work where as I can make some what of a decent living.

For sure. How often do you stop for bathroom breaks. And how do you sleep. How does it all break down. If you don't mind me asking

If you want a local jobs they are available. Look at ready mix & concrete. Look at waste management or trash. Look at food service & beer or soft-drink distributors. Without OTR experience you will be staying local & driving in city traffic. -
After your done training then your on your own or you have to do team jobs. When are you allowed to work solo
-
First decide what type of driving you want to do. Then do whatever is necessary to do that. You are not going to do interstate, long distance, truck driving without riding in trainer's truck and trying to sleep in a bouncing truck unless you get hired out of school by an LTL company or union company that runs daycabs.
IMO newbies should FIRST find a place they want to work and SECOND go to CDL school. You probably have a loan for CDL school and need to start making payments if you are like most of us starting out. Repayment begins whether you have a job or not.
How bad do you want this job?
