When I was with t/a, all the guy's that were with the company for any extended time said the same thing (when Johnny stopped running the show things went downhill fast) the problem with that is, Johnny is still owner of the company, I'm sure he know's what's going on!!!:biggrin_25511:

Thanks, bro. If I end up with these people I'll see if I can get dispatched out of there. I don't know if it works the same way as it does with Swift, but with Swift you're pretty much dispatched out of your home terminal, except on weekends. If you want to be dispatched out of a different terminal from the one closest to your home, you have to make the terminal you want your home terminal (and you can do this even if it's really far away from your home). Thanks for the info

Well I'd pay $500 a week to get AWAY from my family and I can't even get a job flipping burgers locally, so maybe I should just sign my soul over to Transam! Haha

Yeah, there seem to be a lot of companies who are ONLY hiring lease at the moment, and there are places like JB Hunt who say they are NEVER hiring company drivers again, ever! Not sure if that is true or not, but that was what the really loud annoying guy on the phone screamed at me. Thanks

    pbstreetgang,

While not directly relevant to leasing from TA they did tell me today that the orientation class for company drivers I was to attend on May 6 has been canceled. They do not want to put people through that and the 160 hrs. of finishing training only to have them sitting on the bench, so to speak. And a newb would not be able to lease from them until at least six months worth of experience. An experienced driver going in may have no problem getting in if he was signing up for a lease. You will have to ask them.

    pbrstreetgang Thanks this.

When did that policy change I wonder? Heck, over 75% of their L/O's are newbies and from what I'm hearing, their pushing hard to get you to go lease.

Based on a call I had last week with a recruiter there. I had eMailed asking for Lease, I mean fleece, contracts for review. When I did not get a call back for a couple days I called them and was told fresh, newly minted CDL drivers will have to wait. It is either 6 or 12 months. I didn't write it down.

I spoke with another TA driver that went to the same school, He went lease right out of the shoot. Seems to be doing ok. When I talked with him I didn't ask to see a pay stub. Says he is getting decent miles/week.

I wonder if that has anything to do with all the angry drivers sitting their with no trucks? I just went about two weeks back to pick my brother up from TA after he had enough of the waiting crap. There were a ton of guys left and one guy from Jersey saw a car heading east and I ended up driving him back with us to Buffalo.

Boy, if that is the scene in Olathe I am certainly glad I called to follow up on my start date. I have learned that it pays to call the recruiters almost every other day after they tell you you are to come to orientation, just to make sure. AND get it in writing.
