This is something I have trouble understanding. It just don't seem right to be held up by these people. If you are just sitting for hours someone needs to pay.

I know this is trucking but it is also BS and I think really sucks for the driver. No one suffers but the drivers.

    Okay I'm done !:biggrin_25510:

Thanks HTQ, I do hope it will work out, Holding off until after buying the house we are looking at. Unfourtunatly the 14 years at my current job looks better on a morgage app than less than 1 year. Hoping it will be by the end of the year and can somehow squeeze the CDL tuition in there somehow without having to finance it.

Gotta remember your in Florida, most of the dock workers are prob still hung over from either being out on the beach or at a lake on their boats and cook outs yesterday.

And if you think that is bad you should try my job. Most of my work is dealing with retired people who think they have more important things to do than wait for a service call and take the time away from those who still work and need earlier or later appoinments and then decide to go out on the road during rush hour just for the early bird specials at resturants.:biggrin_25510:

Yeah, that's typical Publix. Are you on the big side with a ton of doors or around back with only 4 doors and you back in off the access road? Both sides take their time!

I'm stopping in Crestview, FL for the night. Parking behind Econolodge and my mum is gonna pick me up and let me crash at the farm for the night. She will drop me back off at the truck on her way to work and then I will cruise to Baldwin to shut down for a break before I go to Walmart in Macclenny.

I agree, jaso, Dennis, the waiting for unload must be rather frustrating, to say the least! Too bad they don't have to pay for their delays. That part bothers me too, for George. Both waiting on unloading and swaps, course you've gotta throw in there waiting for a preplan too! I know it's all part of trucking, but it sure does a number on the paycheck, in a negative way.

No less than $ 20 per hour. The companies want their drivers to be and look professional then they should pay them as such.
The company may lose a little money but they can afford it better than the driver. Sitting for hours away from family and friends for no money , that just ain't right ! I can understand sometimes things happen but seems like a lot of drivers sit and make no money and they are willing to drive but are stuck somewhere.

They could.write their contracts to include that but then, they might lose the contract. So much easier to just screw the driver over instead. Hopefully tho, the tide is turning and that now, it's becoming a driver's market. Don pay dentition, bye bye.

Hey Dennis, Don't know about the video but I found this site and thought you might be interested. It has a good section where you can study a basic CDL handbook with a test section in it. It does make sure that you know the material prior to letting you move onto another section of the book. For myself I have found it is very similar to my states CDL handbook so it might help you as well. You have to register on the High Road portion of the site, but does not ask for anything other than login information and email.

When you are ready to post instead of Quick Reply click on Go Advanced, then Insert Image and it should take you to a basic uploader, dennisroc. The video portion is a little harder, that's the reason I never could post the video of the scam artists. It is fairly easy to post a video from youtube.....but was going to take me hours to upload to youtube so that I could put it on here.
