You can not rely on most of the news station to get that right. They are ignorant. That crash with Tracy Morgan happened cause that driver was doing 65 in a 45 trying to beat his 14 hour clock he had 26 miles to go and 28 minutes to get there. It was an over zealous DA in NJ who claimed that driver was up for 24 hours before hand. I have heard all sorts of junk from that but it cost us a chance at getting an 82 hour driving week. That was getting ready to go up before congress to be voted on and then that crash happened and they had to shelve it. When you speed in a construction zone you are screwing everyone in this industry if you crash. The ATA did a study and found out that in more than 75% of accidents between 4 wheelers and trucks the 4 wheelers were to blame. These news idiots do not account that more and more of these kids today drive and text and just more people in general do it now. When you sit up high like we do you can spot them easy they look like drunks, slowing down and swerving. The lawyers and media will not focus on that because we are evil to them. We do get some support but most have no idea what they are talking about. I would love to have sit in with that lawyer and question him just a little bit.

When I move back to the states I will have a gun , over here in Korea no need and no one is allowed to have a gun. Never here of shootings and murders that much. Maybe the USA could learn something from these people haha.

In Knoxville at the J. Have my first light load for a while now. On my way to Cheyenne(Lowes) have to be there Thursday 1500. Getting my first 10 hour break in 3 days so it will be nice to know no one is going to knock on door to tell me to scram. I have been parked in streets or hiding on customers property to get my breaks in and that is split breaking. I don't sleep so well when I do that. Do not like to split break and when doing deliveries to these grocery wharehouses it just makes it worse.

I try not to rely on the news that much for those reasons. Usually just a one sided opinion anyway. Like you say you wish you could question the lawyer , I am sure there are a lot of truckers that feel the same way.

 

Well crap. Just got the word, that we lost one of our drivers. Don't know if he fell asleep or had a heart attack but, he ran into the back of a truck, broke down on the side of the road. Other drivers are ok, his truck burnt to the ground.

Be careful out here people and if your tired, pull over!!!!! No load is worth your life!!!!!

 

There are very few exceptions for drivers to be able to carry any kind of weapon out here. You do not have anything to worry about. Just keep your eyes open. Like Cranky said there really is no need for one. Look up all the crimes committed against drivers and then look up at how many drivers are out here and don't forget Canadian drivers deliver loads here and then pick one up for back haul back to Canada. There are Mexican drivers here so you will see there are a lot of drivers out here. The % is small but there is a % so you always have to be aware but if you use common sense and park in truck stops that are in decent areas you should be ok. I do not know the penalty if you get caught with a gun but I would bet it is severe and probably has prison time involved.

No way I would ever take Cranky as a Liberal, not that there is anything wrong with that(quoting a show there)

I80, westbound, @ mm 20. Happened early Sunday morning. He' d just gotten fuel in Peru. I went right by that wreck and didn't even realize it was one of ours.
