George has a load now. He has a drop and hook at North Cove, NC going to Montgomery, NY due Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. He just got the message via TREQ a few minutes ago..good thing we drove to the truck (with intention of turning APU off). He asked for them to call him, which they didn't do. Otherwise, the load probably would be late. Of course, he has to sleep sometime. The extra day was great, but I still hated seeing him go.![]()

Jaso you say chances of me getting a T-680 are slim , why is that. Are they older models, do they just give the T-680's to people who lease.
Can't remember right now the difference between the three but I think someone said the T-660 would be small for 2 people (Wife & Me) Not sure about how much room in the T-700 . -
^Until Jaso is around to answer, I can tell you the T-680 is the newest model (yeah, the numbering system is weird) and they have up until now been only available to lease. We have heard recently of a few going out to company drivers, however, it seems much more likely that you would get a T-700. A T-700 is just as big as a 680, great for two people, I actually prefer the T-700 as a company driver to the 680.

Just a heads up jungHo, I think a driver can ask his DM to make a "contact by e-mail" note on his driver code to relay load information. I don't think it is too difficult for the DM, they just copy and past the info over onto an e-mail and send off. I had it done that way when my TREQ box was down. Maybe send in the request just as George is leaving the truck to go home.

one thing to remember is as soon as you leave HT
message dispatch make sure your fuel card is turned on
i got 400 miles down the road one night and had to wait an hour
for my card to get turned on
the rumor when I was there was new trucks could only be leased out 3 times before they were turned into company truckspassport220, dennisroc, jungHo and 2 others Thank this. -
Good reminder, Pete. Having the fuel card turned on and putting in for the next home time were the two things that we did immediately when the King came back on duty and before he left the driveway. It was a routine that saved a lot of hassle down the road. If regular home time is important to you, a reminder that holidays are around the corner, the sooner you put in your request for home time the more likely you are to get the days that you request..... and it is easy to get busy and forget to put in for home time until the last minute.

There are indeed 680s trickling down to a few company drivers. I've heard of one case where a company guy fresh out of training got one and also heard of some guys being brought in because their truck was due to be sold and getting a 680 or having the powers that be go up the chain and try to get the driver into a 680. But the others are right in saying you will most likely get a 700. It's pretty much a lottery win if you luck out and score a 680 but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask, either. The 680 is the most comparable model to riding in an SUV that TransAm runs. It is far quieter than the 660 or 700 or nothing will totally muffle that big diesel engine. I like my glorified RV, lol!
I'm on the south side of Little Rock tonight. Debating on pushing in to deliver in Waco tomorrow or just run a short day and deliver Wednesday. Decisions, decisions. Don't have a preplan yet so sadly I can't use that to help make up my mind. -
it's part of the job. every company has little hang ups and sometimes waiting is just trucking. just be glad you are waiting at home.gntorres61, jungHo and jaso36 Thank this.

Trucking is different. There are days you are going to really really hate it. There are days you're going to really really love it. The rest fall somewhere in between.
People don't realize that it's not a job it's a lifestyle. Espeically OTR, it's a whole new world. You can try to explain it but until you do it you won't understand what people out here are saying.
There's a reason why most rookies wash out in the first year, something like only 15 percent keep on trucking.
When I'm home waiting on a load, it's life as usual. i dont sit around making phone calls or checking the truck. I usually take my gear to the truck the night before so I have everything there. then I just go about a normal day, except i abstain from the whiskey for obvious reasons haha.gntorres61 and jaso36 Thank this. -
The T-680 are the newest model I think everyone has stated that most company guys do not usually get them. They are phasing out the T-660 and from what I understand company drivers are getting the T-700 but these big companies can squeeze the life out of a nickel so I was just trying to temper your expectations if you come here dennisroc. The hardest thing most new drivers have a hard time dealing with is their own expectations of this job. wulfman is right it is not a job but a life style either you love it or you don't and most don't.
I had to lay $115 for lumper this morning due to computers being down and by the time they got them back up my fuel card was shut off so I will have to wait till Wednesday to get it back. I would normally be upset but whatever have enough money to enjoy hometime and will be on them like white on rice on Wednesday to get it back. That is trucking I could wait for an unknown amount of time for computers to work and have no idea when I was going to get home or just pay the bill and get home when I wanted to.
Enjoying hometime so will be back Wednesday.
Be safe out thereHometimeQueen, dennisroc and wulfman75 Thank this.
