^ When in CDL school, I always wondered how drivers could do a lot of dumb stuff, drop trailers like above, hit low bridges, etc. Then once you start to do the job, you understand you are making a lot of decisions while rushing to get things done within your clock, dead tired, middle of the night in dark parking lots etc.
I'll admit I dropped a trailer about 3 months in on the job. Super tired in a dark lot. Luckily, it did not go to the ground but only to the rails just behind the 5th wheel. No damage and not too big of a deal to recover, but that learned me up real good to always get out with a flash light and check. That crashing sound from hell behind me that night woke me up to a lot of stuff, to always follow proper procedure regardless of how tired, etc.

A lesson on the importance of checking mirrors. There I am, wandering around only semi lost this time, and I need to make a right turn. Have signal on, check mirrors, pull up to swing wide, check mirrors again and a dang SUV had snuck in on my right side. Stopped 2 inches from him. Never saw anyone clear an intersection so fast!!!!

Bad news for south Florida travel, Unfourtunatly the time of year is upon us once again here in FL, Lovebug season. Be sure to have the washer resovoirs topped off and a scrub brush handy for when you need to really clean the winshield. Thankfully the fall lovebug season is not as long or as heavy as the spring season.

How much damage usually happens when you drop a trailer, is it really bad or can you just get someone to pick it up and go ???

Guess it depends on several factors, like if it is heavily loaded. This one must have been as it was badly damaged. The refer fuel tank was smashed but luckily no sign it was leaking. I think the biggest concern for this trailer is the damaged frame rail on the left side. An outside big boy wrecker was pulling into the lot just as I was pulling out.
Bright sun glare when I was taking the pics meant I could not clearly see my own phone screen, so I was kind of shooting blind:

Once again I've returned to haunt the Kingdom City Petro. Dropped in Fulton and grabbed an empty 2014. Next load might be my hometime one. Gotta puzzle out the timing of stops and breaks because it's a three stopper. First stop is Sunday night and other two are Monday morning. Will see how it plays out. Sucks that it finals at Buckhead Beef in College Park. But I know of a perfect spot near Fairburn where I can hang out most of the night.

Did not run out of fuel in the reefer. Filled it up at 230am central and departed. Prognosis on the trailer: crossed air lines. Sometimes I am such a dumb ###. 282.00 for the road call. I texted our road call all the systems . Brakes locked, trailer air bags completely collapsed but nobody came up with crossed air lines. As soon as the tech properly hooked up the lines those bags filled up instantly and trailer rolled freely. I wasn't going to share this, but if it helps somebody else, then its worth it. I will never be mistaken for perfect. Deuces. In Emerson GA at the Loves. Violated 14 hour with three hours on the dock and two plus in rush hour traffic in the ATL. Up T 0430 en rout to Knoxville to swap a load going to Food Lion Salisbury NC. Trailer door hook broke off when it was handed off to me. Just stuck a screwdriver and hooked the door with the screwdriver.. Deuces.

You are in the right place sjm1534, welcome to the thread! There are many current and former TransAm drivers here, and I think most would tell you that we advocate for and try to help other drivers. We do our best not to bash anyone ....but we occasionally vent and whine a little bit!

We can usually help you with shippers and receivers and just general information on how TransAm operates .....and what our combined experiences have taught us is the best way to handle something. Feel free to ask us any questions that you may have. We started a little blog with some information on it ... the website address is on the bottom of my posts.sjm1534 Thanks this.
