George's home time is over. :biggrin_2557: He is heading to Mt. Airy, NC at Awesome Products for a load going to Dollar Tree DC in Marietta, OK.

Congratulations, passport and jaso, for getting out of those tickets. I know that could be bad for your DOT record. Looks like having Legal Shield is a good thing, jaso.

    jaso36 and passport220 Thank this.

The moral of the story is because you hold a CDL, let lawyers do their thing. Whether you're ticketed while driving a car or your truck, tickets are treated as if you're driving a commercial vehicle. Don't pay bail thinking it's the easy way out like you would without a CDL; it's the lesson I learned the hard way.

So indulge me here, Everyone. I'm curious to hear your responses and opinions: What does a trucker look like? I hope to get MANY responses. In light of my husband's denial to looking like one, I just wondered what the general consensus is on that, in general. :biggrin_25525:

When I was in CDL school preparing to take a driver's job I looked into a Legal Shield and it did seem worthwhile. It is normally a 1 year subscription and I would be taking long periods of that year off, not driving, out of the country so I did not do it.

I paid my attorney a flat fee of $500, in advance. He took care of getting the matter continued, made some follow up phone calls and represented me in court in what turned out to be a real, mini-trial (bench trial, no jury). So considering what attorneys charge as an hourly rate, I thought the flat $500 was fair.

It is a long story but I felt I was innocent and wanted to fight it. Happy I won, annoyed I got called in, had to pay an attorney and had to defend myself in the first place. That said, I have done things behind the wheel at other times that should have earned me a ticket, but no one saw... so just for happiness in life, I will focus on the happy I won part.

There was a short, stocky guy, middle aged in my CDL class. 30" neck, meat hooks for hands. He sometimes drove a Harley to class. He could not back to save his life, I told him not to worry about it, just to sit placid in the truck at the DMV, he would pass just because he looked so much like a truck driver up there in that seat.

Change in status: George is now changing course going to North Cove, NC taking that load to Montgomery, NY. Jaso, in the isolated chance that the two of you should be there at the same time, his truck # is 29012.

    jaso36 Thanks this.

I'm short and overweight with rainbow hair and piercings. But I've looked and dressed the same since high school except for a couple years where I generally passed as male. Neither motherhood nor being a trucker changed it. I do what makes me happy and am not out here to impress anyone but myself.

We haven't had too many problems with bad weather in the southwest corner of Missouri yet, SRQGhost. They are saying that later on this afternoon may be some severe weather for us. Sixty mile per hour winds and one inch hail.....joy.

The King never delivered in Earth City while he was with TransAm, jaso, but he has made several deliveries there with this company. His experience with companies there has been positive and driver friendly.

As far as how a driver looks, The King is lean and mean.....I was hoping he would put on some weight when he started driving, but he hasn't. No gray hair, no added pounds ....it's discouraging!:biggrin_2559:

The garages are nothin' fancy, Pete, but one of them does have a ramp so that he can change the oil, etc. ....I think it's the only one without junk in it! HA!
Our place is older and was built by a German gentleman that thought World War III was eminent. I even have two hidden rooms that are concrete bunkers....but since I am not allowed to store anything in the man garage they are full of my stuff. That probably needs to be put in the burn pile!:biggrin_25523:

I made some phone calls and have not been able to track down the "can man". I don't know what else that I can do ....except pray that he is well.

Aha! The Queen always gets her man! I just had a phone call from the mayor, who called around to other towns for me, the "can man" has been incarcerated for not having current plates and insurance on his car. While it is a sad situation, he is alive, well taken care of and had air conditioning during the worst of the heat wave here.
