A trucker can be a he or a she, tall or short, overweight or skinny as a rail, pet lover or not, bald or young, happy or angry, English-speaking or not, black or white, this or that, yes or no, up or down, PhD or high school educated, and more. Or less.
Like anyone else, truckers span the grand gamut of humanity and are as diverse as the trucks they drive. Or wish they did.

if you just sat looking at the humanity at the truckstop
the dress code of the day would be flip flops baggy shorts and a dirty shirt
overweight truckers are a given OTR where we dont fingerprint the freight
even after lap band surgery and losing 140 lbs 40 has crept back
and i seldom eat anything i dont put in the truck
candy bars are my vice
the small company thing is working out nicely
the owner gave me my week vacation pay 2 months early
maybe because the move was so stressful
he punched up the miles for the 10 company trucks and only one driver is ahead of me
and he has been driving 25 years and been teaching me all the little tricks to make the runs easier
and to maximize hours
the 2 complainers just think we are the special ones
but they are the ones that dont plan ahead and arent ready for the next load as soon as they are empty
no matter how much time i have on a load i get to destination in time to take a 10 hour break so i can roll onto next load immediatelyjungHo, wulfman75, jaso36 and 1 other person Thank this. -
^ ^ ^ Same vice as mine, Pete, to some extent. I like chocolate candy and Swiss Rolls..., mmm!
Good point, DenaliDad...truckers come in all shape and sizes, etc. Pete, I betvit would be something to behold, sitting at a truck stop and watching various truckers come and go. I have observed them some, when I go to our rinky dink local truck stop where George parks his truck during home time. Yep! Interesting for sure!
If you mainly eat food from the truck, good for you! I usually send about 15 or 16 homemade frozen meals with George each time he goes out. We went to Walmart to buy Gatorade and snack food in hopes of limiting spending money to eat at truck stops, etc. A lot of money gets blown on food that way. -
i am out 8-10 days at a time and spend less then $100 cash plus cigarettes
mostly on coffee -
JungHo , are most truck stops ok with someone leaving their truck there while on home time ?
Does he have to pay anything ? -
Currently in east st. louis at the pilot. I did have to deal with all the rain this morning but it workout fine. I will be heading to ohio in the morning. Hopefully after dropping this load i can go home. Did you guys know that the scale tickets are $10.50 now.
HometimeQueen and gntorres61 Thank this. -
Our local independent truck stop, Hood's, has no problem with the King dropping his trailer there for a few days. He has never had to pay, and they have security guys that are constantly running around checking on any cars that go in and out. I think it all depends on the area that you are in, dennisroc. A larger metropolitan area where parking is at a premium may have a problem with it.
I forgot rule number one of dealing with politicians. If you ask them to check into something for you they will expect a favor in return. Another phone call ....this one to tell me that my help was needed on a project at a later date.....sigh....All politics are local.jaso36, Panhandle flash and dennisroc Thank this. -
I did know that they went up, melo. Did they go up on a re-weigh also?
From what I have heard today Ohio DOT is very active this week. -
I did not see that truck number just a driver that it was his first time there so that couldn't have been George.

I have no idea. Too many types out here. Young old short tall fat skinny. I am 6'3" about 250 with a shaved head and no facial hair. Maybe a little scruff on my face from time to time. I shave my head about 2-3 weeks and I wear a STL ballcap.jungHo Thanks this.
