passport, you should talk with the King's company. I think they would work with you on taking time off.....I know they have allowed another driver to take a 6 month leave of absence. One advantage they have is that they do not own their own trucks.....the company leases them from Peterbilt. So, when you start work for them if they don't have a truck in the yard that you like ....they order one for you. Well, I have to clarify that, they have 3 divisions, the company owns the trucks that haul the race horses. Our only problem with truck repairs has been in Springfield, the truck has never left the King stranded but any issues and we have dropped it off at Peterbilt of Springfield while he is on home time. They are just too busy to do a thorough job and this time he was better off taking the truck to St. Louis. He got to the yard, took his 10, when he woke up Peterbilt had sent the mechanic to get his truck and brought him another one to drive this week. We have never had any down time over truck repairs or trailer repairs.
There have been very few times that the King has had to wait on a load....and his driver manager called him and said I put $$$ on your paycheck for this week.....he didn't even have to ask. Anything over 2 hours for pick up and delivery they start hammering away to get detention from the shipper or receiver.
My only real gripe is with the health insurance ....they have an excellent policy that is very expensive for a family. However it is extremely reasonable and on the cheap side for just the employee.

I have lost track of my map pins this week so I don't know if there is anything that you all need to know about. I 44 in St. Louis will be closed down this weekend for repairs, so if anyone is going that way take the 270 loop.
Something is going on in Arkansas today and they are searching trucks on I 40 around the 117mm. I haven't looked on the map but would that be near a military post? Many, many military aircraft flying over the house since late last night.....it is a bit unusual.

Oh, I forgot to tell you the best parts - They actually know how to answer the phone! Never have to wait to get someone on the phone. No fuel solution, if you need fuel get it. And the truck is NOT governed at 62mph.

    dennisroc and passport220 Thank this.

HTQ , Does the king tell what company he works for ? Do they hire newbie"s ?

I think the thing that would bother me the most is if you are trying to get ahold of your company and they don't call back GRRRRR!!

Also does the king post on here ?

    passport220 and HometimeQueen Thank this.

Hey PF do they .hire Newbie's ??? This would also work great for me to be able to spend a few months in the Philippines.

Seems like you told me before they just hire experienced drivers

I will never sweep out another trailer again! :) Still sitting outside Walmart, killing time til I pick up at AB in Waco. There are no washout anywhere near here so it's up to me to clean it up which was easy and it's was a few small pallet pieces and dirt. I am all for working smarter and not harder and I had an epiphany. When I was home last time, Brian modified my emergency tire inflation line to be able to accept different heads, one of which is an air gun. I hooked up the line to the tractor, stuck the gun head in my pocket and then fed the air hose up through the front floor drain on the trailer. I hopped up inside, popped on the head and spent all of two minutes without breaking a sweat cleaning out the trailer. It actually works better than a broom! I am so stoked over this LOL.
