Just got my new appointments!! Tomorrow at 515pm here and 545pm Monday in Henderson NC. Almost 48 hours here, no detention pay because I WAS 90 minutes late. Somehow I just can't look at Walmart in the same light anymore. I thought Colton California was bad, Johnboy. This takes the cake!! Just gotta do my year here but may cut it to six months. Done four here so far. So you wanna pull a reefer??

George you wont like this but by your posting it is the truth
changing jobs will not fix the problems
your late because of poor planning
    bottom line plain and simple
late costs you and any company more time and money
then trying to save your hours by not starting earlier
everytime your late it compounds it on the other end as it is doing now

Yes but 48 hours. Don't think the crime fits the punishment, Pete. Yep my fault. Guilty as charged. Should have started earlier. Lesson learned, point well taken. I will just violate my 14 next time. Drive 10 and sit in a dc 4 hours. Johnboy, Rose colored glasses are off now.

George just learn from this. It is a mistake, we all make them sometimes trucking stinks and we always pay the price as drivers. Wal-Mart is good only if you show up early. In the reefer side sometime they will reject you all together for being late then company and shipper scramble to find a new buyer and this makes them very unhappy as it is usually at a reduced rate. Chalk it up to getting experience and I hope you are not missing anything important at home just a agrivating delay. I went my route cause it avoided Atlanta, I know you do not have that same option but now you know how bad Atlanta traffic can be and next time you will allott the right amount of time to travel through it, whether with this company or the next. Cranky lacks tact but he is just trying to help. Like I wrote before we have all made a blunder trip planning before. I was lucky when I started I was on paper logs which allows a certain ability to make up for lost time.

In Haughton, La. for the night planning on making it to Amarillo tomorrow. Should be able to catch the games in time. I have no idea why they want me to go up 35-70 that will add 150+ miles to this trip. I think I will be less than 7% out of route and that is with visiting my parents. I am hoping they swap me or move my appointment time to Monday 2300 but not to hopeful. Think they don't ask me to swap anymore cause they have been paying me extra for each one. We will see.

Wulfman I am with you I will be your copilot and even roar like Chewbacca if I have too.

    Be safe out there.

Sitting in Cactus waiting on a load. Drop dead isn't until tomorrow afternoon. Joy. Flies are awful. It's breezy and nice outside but the flies are too bad to roll down the windows and enjoy it.

in 3 years i have been late 3 times including one breakdown
you have been late 3 times in 3 weeks
you are not setting yourself up for success
I tried since you came on to stress time management is the key to success
and again i am sorry but it is you

you have the advantage with treq elog of split sleeper berth which will also help fix the 14 issue

and if there is a TS across the street you wouldnt even have to go on duty
quit making any excuses and fix it

George also you should look into split breaking. That might have helped you in this instance. It is a little tricky and it might have helped you out. Maybe your wife can come to you and hang out while you wait. I know that is not great but it would give you two time together. Just keep your good attitude and everything will get better. Sometimes it is hard to do when this BS is happening but remind yourself that just a few weeks ago you were really happy and will be again. As for the new appointment time it is probably not a punishment but they have already scheduled loads to be delivered there so they gave you the earliest their little handbook says they can. Just go to the guard shack and let them know that you are available if someone else misses their appointment. Worse that happens is that they say they can't do it but they might and that would get you out of there. I hope it works out for you and remember it is just a misstep right now.

Sorry to pile on here George but what has been said is true.

Anytime you are late you are at the mercy of when the customer decides they want to unload you. Split sleeper does help, especially on elogs as the computer figures it out for you.

Trip Planning is prob the most important part of this job other than safety.

Some companies if you are late a too many times and you will be looking for a job whether you planned to or not.

Ok. Time for the wife to hop on. What each of you is saying to George is true. He has taken quite a hit and has been beating himself up on how he should have handled his trip. Part of the problem, though, that I've seen many of you talk about, and he hasn't put on here, is the fact that he drove all night for a swap that didn't happen until the next night. His biggest problem with not leaving sooner, after finally making the swap was exhaustion. Perhaps, as a few of you mentioned, split sleeper would work in that case. Guess you learn to sleep during the day after driving nights for a while. He hasn't had much luck getting the sleep he needs during the day. Still, getting the loads to the receivers on time is key, no doubt about it. Thanks for the encouragement and ideas. Hindsight is 20-20. The cold, hard truth hurts, but, trust me, George has learned a lesson the hard way. Fortunately home time being delayed isn't a problem, no engagements or set in stone plans.., just annoying. Work in progress...
