HTQ, I believe you are right about the stubborn attitudes. Guess you could also refer to it as determination. George has plenty of both. :biggrin_25523: I'm flattered, that we've passed the family trucking test! I can only imagine many of you have loads of good and bad experiences you could share. When all's said and done, each day is a new day and no job is perfect. Again, thanks for the kind words and encouragement you and others on here give. This thread and each of you is awesome and a great support system!

I had a weird idea that would be next to impossible to work: Wouldn't it be neat if everyone that regularly posts on the thread could arrange to meet at a central location some day? I told you it's a weird idea!!:biggrin_25524:

Per diem pay is a part of your paycheck. It is tax free. Say you get 30 cents a mile, 8 or 10 of that is per diem. You are only taxed on that 20 cents. The per diem scam is a boon for these large companies. That is 10 cents (or whatever they pay), per mile, that unemployment, social security etc.... that THEY do NOT have to pay the feds for. Also for loan purposes, you'll get less of a loadn cause of that. After all, your only makng 20 cents a mile, to the loan companies.

And yes, they're still doing that.

I noticed that he refers to his new home as the clubhouse now also! You guys are a bad influence on him! :biggrin_2559: Wonder how he's gonna feel about us having a TransAm family reunion there???

I just got home! And Jaso, I just had a thought that I will ask leasing tomorrow and it could sway me to possibly do the lifetime lease and just continue to take hometime the way I usually do. Since you're essentially prepaying for that week off, I'm wondering if you absolutely have to be HOME during that no payment week. I can think of a couple times a year I could really use to have a killer paycheck. So could once per quarter I request to take my "freebie" week with no payments, but actually run my tail off and get paid all but what I spend in fuel essentially. If that answer is yes, I'm switching, lol. I will call leasing tomorrow and find out!

Talked to my kids earlier and my four year old is so excited I'm coming home. I told him he would see me after school tomorrow. He had asked what I was doing and I said I was sitting. Then he asked why I was sitting so I told him I was waiting for someone to come and trade me an empty trailer cause when I got an empty trailer it meant I could go home and he started flipping out and telling my husband I was coming home. He is such a sweet kid. I know he will be looking for my truck on the way to daycare ((and he will see it and know I'm home)). Because I came in late I'm just crashing in the truck tonight and Brian will pick me up after he gets done with his morning run. :)

I'm so happy to be home. It means I get sushi!!

    Btw, welcome newbies!!!

Yeah I wish I was in Indiana I would have come down and bought you dinner :) . I was at that truck stop last July when I was there on vacation and got to talk to a couple TA drivers. They were swapping trailers , one was quitting after driving 13 years for them and the other was complaining about the dash cam but said he has been driving 3 years and had no problem with TA but wish they didn't have the camera's.

Does your truck have a camera facing you , do you have any issues with it ???

Glad to see you are running again. :biggrin_25522:
