HB I didn't ask about being able to drive through the payment free week. Please let me know what they say about that. I could use a great pay week also but could also use hometime, it would be great to have that option. Great idea.

Finally in loading dock. They had some big problems in factory or they would have unloaded me last night. Guard told me to make a left in second driveway and then I get to second driveway and there is a sign that read employee parking only so I go to the next one(which I very highly reccomend not doing) and it was tough to get turned around. Happy I saw an old timer show me a trick many years ago that helped me this morning.

Next load going to Ardmore from Marion, Al. then should be heading home.

When is our first club meeting passport? I will mow the lawn when I get there but have not done it before so I am thinking Shea Stadium cut

    Be safe out there

Thanks Flash, was wondering exactly how that worked. Now its something else going on the list of things to ask of any company I apply for. Actually figured out that during the talks to recruiters I need to treat it like I interviewing the company while they are interviewing me.

I'm in charleston south carolina. Which terminal would I most likely end up at? What trucks are most company drivers driving? Are they assigned/do you take them home on home time? And I think I read it use to be governed at 70 but now it 62 right? Thanks for the info.

Welcome to our thread, truckertravis84. My husband, George, is a company driver
with TA. We live in NC. He trained in Texas and that is the location of his driver manager and dispatcher too. I don't know that there is any particular set location for your base. I'm speculating here, but it may depend on when you are hired and which location has new training sessions at that time. Even then, if you were to talk to passport (soon to not be a TA driver), they could change your base. Even though George's base is TX, he hasn't been back there since training and being issued his truck. He has been to Olathe 2 or 3 times though. George says, as far as miles, from us anyway, the two are about the same distance. TA makes travel arrangements to fly you there, so that's covered.

As to trucks, the way I understand it lease drivers get the newest trucks. The year, make, and model company drivers are assigned is basically luck of the draw, depending on what trucks are on the lot where you are at the time. Their trucks are well maintained and within the last 3 years of make. You're right, company drivers' trucks are governed at 62. Lease drivers trucks are higher, about 65. I'm sure the more experienced ones, drivers and others, will hop on and comment too, correcting me if I'm wrong on certain points. Good luck to you.

The equivalent of driving about 3,000 paid miles for a TransAm driver. Maybe less than 1,500 for you.

    HometimeQueen and dennisroc Thank this.

You have to ask HTQ the time of the first meeting, she is the club president. I just pay the bills for the clubhouse. I did an image search of "Shea Stadium grass" kinda cool, one has the outline of the New York skyline cut into the grass. Figure out how to make it the Des Moines skyline, such as it is (I don't even know myself what that looks like) and you may be on to something!
