In Dalton, Ga hopefully they can load my trailer in the next 3 hours. If not will be here for the night. I do not like this place they are slow or at least the last time I was here they were. I went to the Pilot down the road so I could shower and now wait. Might split break this so I can get this load to KC shippers before midnight tomorrow. If I can do that I will know exactly how many paid miles I have this week. I started in Storm Lake, Ia. right after midnight last week.
For all you new drivers most training/starter companies force the per diem. It is a huge tax advantage for them and a lot of the mega carriers do for all company drivers. All I can say is get your experience and find a company that fits all your needs, most starter/training companies will not fit that. Remember you have to prove yourself to this industry before you get all the stuff you want. 1 year is usually good enough. Here is what you need to think about, in what industry can you do that? and in what industry do you walk in with no experience as the top dog? Why do so many expect it in this one? Just a few questions to ponder. Try to find a company that you can live with for 1 year then look around. There is a shortage of safe reliable drivers and with no experience you are neither. #1 problem with new drivers is expectations. You will not get 500 miles a day for an average, most shippers and receivers could care less about us so they load you in their schedule not yours. Once you prove yourself to this industry the sky is the limit and it starts at 1 year experience. That is a really short time for most industries. With 2 years experience 95% of the industry opens their doors for you but you have to have a safe and reliable record.
Be safe out there

Yes Josh from road assist explained to me that the APU alternator should be charging the truck batteries while the apu is on and the truck is off. Otherwise, yet another trip to ThermoKing. This never ends. Uy Vey. Waiting for the beeping sounds to start. Got my lights on.

If I came off a little cranky sorry. Just trying to help by being honest. Lower expectations a little. I want everyone here to have a great career in this industry. I know when I was in training we all thought of this industry in a perfect world scenerio and just trying to give a real perspective. Everyone on here has had experience in another industry and when you think about it it usually takes years(5 or more) to move up as quickly as you can in this industry in about 1 year.
Flash I think it is carpet but hoping it is just padding. I am not lucky so it will be very heavy either way.
redneck be warned Cranky lives up to his name over the phone. LOLgntorres61, jdmredneck33, HometimeQueen and 1 other person Thank this.
