That brings back a memory when George was at Abilene in training with Big Brin. They got a load somewhere around Newport , VA. There weren't any truck stops in their general region to scan the load, so when they got across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel and got scaled, their load was way too heavy. Thry had to go all the way back and get their load right. The distributor scaled the load the first time before they left, but their scales were (obviously) quite inaccurate! I've heard of other drivers having similar experiences.

Oh, and George is at long last home and catching up on sleep. He did a split sleeper berth and left SC soon after 2 am, so he's pooped!

There is a better life then most had at the time they started trucking
I was on unemployment at $225/week before Transam
The fact that in 1994 I made $250000 meant nothing in 2010
    except it was all gone
so anything more then unemployment was ok

expectations are one of the biggest problems
along with people not willing to do the work to become good enough
    to fulfill their perceived expectations
that said training companies business model is flawed but needed the way it is

oh and passport when it is time to go
nothing will make you happy again

Panhandle flash and passport220 Thank this.

I am just on a 30 min break, have not been able to read up on all the posts, but all are welcome here. It is a discussion forum, not a closed club. More views and input make this thread stronger.

If I see a TransAm driver out and about, shipper/receiver, truck stop, I usually chat them up. How's it going, how you doing with TransAm, etc. Speaking with TransAm drivers out in the field is a like box of chocolates.

I had a chance to meet Jaso today. I know him more than the random TransAm driver from this thread. I think his posts show that he has a good head on his shoulders. I respect what he posts, he has good views on both TransAm and the trucking industry in general. Turns out he is the same way when speaking with him in person as when he posts. It did my attitude good to have someone who can understand my frustrations and offer constructive comments. It was a pleasure.

When I read this, I thought, we are a family, your appearance does not matter but awwww god bless him, he must be freakishly ugly and self conscious about posting a pic ... lol. Turns out he is a nice looking young man, no worries about posting a pic. I mean, not adorable like Panhandle .... but in this world we can't all have it like that.

    :biggrin_25524:.....Funny! :biggrin_2559:

Just for general information, Pete's boss isn't the only one that reads our forum. Long before the King quit I conducted an experiment and realized that trucking companies have an online presence also. It's not a bad thing in our case, we are a pretty straight forward bunch and do our best to be honest and helpful. We all want the company that we work for to be profitable and well thought of.....our livelihood depends on it. For what it is worth I do think that our discussions have been noticed and that we have brought about some gradual changes......quarterly safety classes online for example, possibly even tuition reimbursement since it is a question that many students ask us. We can be a force for good and gradually make things happen that benefit everyone.

Hopefully, I can stay out of the repair shop after getting the alternator replaced on the APU. I have a PM and a B dot inspection scheduled for NOV 1 which is a Saturday, so I imagine it will be after I clear Bentonville AR headed to Olathe or Rockwall (probably Olathe). Thanks for the tip on Maxson, gang. I have a 1300 appointment. Is it a drop and hook?? Or liveload?? Back to bed.

Of course I'm adorable HTQ!!! You should know that by now!! lol

Am in Omaha. Should've gone shopping and done laundry, and some other things but truth be told.... I'm just flat out tired. Doing another turn and burn in the am, after I deliver this load. Heading to Philly and have to be out of here by 1000. Think this is starting my 4th straight week in a row. They finally caught the hint about not resetting me in the yard. Course, I haven't reset anywhere else yet either. As long as I have some decent hrs I can run, let's get it done.

Taking some vacation around Thanksgiving. Going to spend a couple of days with my aunt in La, and some time with the bro in OKC. May even visit a couple of cousins while I'm goofing off. I find it amazing, that I actually want to spend time with family now, that I've quit doing drugs!!!
