Hey JDM, don't worry about anyone at TransAm forcing you or pressuring to lease. Nobody ever has with me. Sounds like failed lessees making excuses for their failures saying they were forced. BULL HOCKEY. Yes, they will have you sit through a lease presentation at orientation. But no one I mean, no one has asked me to lease or even suggested it. Just sayin'. Just politely sit through it and by all means ask questions. We just don't reccomend newbies to do it out of the gate. I will say TRANSAM has been respectful and even classy about it.

well HTQ got what i meant
but isn't that what i said......

Yeah, I never practiced accounting but I do have some training in it, that sudden change in value would reek havoc on amortization schedules and throw the balance sheet off with the reduced asset values. That history sheet also lists the 1980 deregulation of the trucking industry. I remember when Pres. Regan was all about deregulation. Airlines come to mind. Kind of a misnomer tho as trucking became one of the most regulated industries in the country. Thanks for posting that, I found it very interesting!
I guess you saw that table is one part of a larger document: http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Truck...tion-Systems,-&-Industry-Operation-Procedures more interesting stuff but I have not yet got into it.
That is good your daughters are right back to thinking of doing "normal" actives with the king instead of fretting about what happened. Great news that everyone is moving right along, both figuratively and literally.
Thanks for the monk like interpretation of the Cranky ones comments, I saw that side of what he could have meant, that I would be that much happier when I moved on, but was not 100% sure. Hummmm the two of you are now starting to think alike.
I am sitting at a truck stop near Albuquerque waiting for a swap. I can't figure it out. Both trucks are going westbound, both have a delivery time just two hours apart. One delivery is a small city east of Los Angeles, one near Riverside, works out to be only 10 miles apart. Both of us should be able to make our delivery times comfortably with time to spare. TA does not hire out of California, so should not be a home time issue. Works out close enough to the same so no skin off my noise. I just can't figure out why they might have us swap.Last edited: Oct 25, 2014

I haven't yet had a chance to read the other parts to the document either....but plan to as time permits. With "deregulation" came cheaper goods, cheaper transport and drastic reduction in driver pay. I look at it a little differently.....they deregulated the industry but applied the regulation to the working person. To me it is the driver that is over-regulated, with very little oversight on some of the root problems within the industry.
Oh gosh, passport!
Pete and I thinking alike! It must be from living in the northeast when I was younger. I'm a reformed yankee!
I'm with you on the swap.....it is puzzling and therefore makes me leery. Is it a case of an experienced driver versus a new driver, maybe? I know you know this, but check it over really well before you hook onto it. Also, a scale ticket ....and does the KW700 weigh more?passport220 and dennisroc Thank this. -

In Waynesville, Nc. @ Pilot for the night. They had me worried for a minute this morning as they were sending on time messages. I thought they were going to change my delivery times but they didn't called them and let someone know and then when I stopped I messaged just to CYA. Have to delivery in Salisbury tomorrow then Dunn then home to mess up my wife's zen.
HB I asked about the lifestyles lease thing and they said no you could not drive over that week. I can't do it cause I was 1 week under the 90 days but when I re-sign Jan. 17th I will sign up for it cause I can use it for those 6 months with having to move and look for as place out of state.
passport when is the house warming party? and what kind of entertainment are you going to have?
life is getting weird when Cranky and HTQ are on the same wave length
Be safe out thereHometimeQueen, gntorres61, passport220 and 2 others Thank this. -
^Hahaha .. yeah, I thought the same thing when I read George is a reformed dispatcher. We shall TRY not to hold it against him

Yeah, you said what I was thinking but I am trying to be more positive in my posts. What I could have wrote in my original post was "I can not yet figure out how TA is trying to screw me". My last T-700 weighted spot on the same as a 660. For some reason, this T-700 weighs about 800 pounds more. I picked up my load up out of Tyson Olathe. 3 out of 3 of my past loads out of that Tyson ended up with some kind of over/short, wrong product OS&D claim so the swap driver may be getting the short end of the sick on this one. I will talk to the swap driver when he arrives and try to get some more info.
Wow, the plot turns, I always thought of you as a Missouri country girl, did not know you had a New England background.gntorres61, dennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
Club president HTQ sets all dates. For the entertainment, I propose Cranky and HTQ preform some traditional New England folk songs as a duet.dennisroc, HometimeQueen, jaso37 and 1 other person Thank this.

I am not into the lease thang but from your posts about a "lifestyle lease" is it not just like a savings account to cover a week of time off? Could you not just set up a direct deposit with a local credit union, new account to keep it separate so you would not use it for routine expenses, deposit the same amount as a lifestyle lease, then earn a tiny bit of interest and also have the flexibility to use it as you see fit, including a week of time off?dennisroc Thanks this.
