I figured that you already had a plan, passport!![]()
In Olathe, it was Conrad that you would talk to .....and for the most part he was reasonable and willing to see the driver's point of view. There was a situation when Conrad wasn't available and it went a step up to Chris, also very reasonable and willing to listen.
I doubt very seriously that you were cited for a late delivery .....I always felt like the truly bad dispatchers felt it necessary to make threats in order to make themselves feel like they were in control.

Hear! Hear! Well written, Queen. He should indeed report her. The DM should have to maintain the same standard the company expects drivers to have with shippers and receivers...one of integrity, professionality, and kindness!
While George wasn't entirely happy as a dispatcher, he was a darn good one. Drivers where he worked liked and respected him. He didn't resign from his job, it was outsourced to another location : Columbia, MD to be precise. The drivers don't like being dispatched from an office there. It is very impersonal and somewhat illogical. Until we moved to NC, George had lived his entire life in the Hampton Roads area, so he was extremely good at routing runs. How can a person that far away be as efficient?! The drivers would love to again have on the site dispatch and for George to again be their dispatcher.
He actually dispatched prior to that job too, for airport shuttle (Norfolk International Airport), so he had been a dispatcher for in the neighborhood of 20 years. He does, however, love the flexibility, freedom, and adventure of being OTR. Being a dispatcher was very stressful.
Have a great and relaxing time at home, jaso!HometimeQueen, jaso37 and dennisroc Thank this. -
^ Yeah, I know Conrad. He is good. I think it was Chris who stepped in and solved the last big problem I had that was going to lead to my immediate exit. I don't know how to reach either. I usually end up talking to them only when it gets to the point that I am going to make a hot headed, unauthorized run to Olathe or Rockwall to drop off my equipment.
HometimeQueen and dennisroc Thank this. -
I think TransAm needs to put some of those dash cam/recorders in the office.
jungHo, HometimeQueen, gntorres61 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I believe I probably have or could find the phone number for either or both should the need arise again, passport.
I am resourceful!
Dispatch can be a problem with any company. The King's company lost a long time dispatcher recently .....they replaced him with someone that is having a hard time with the job. I believe she most likely came from a larger carrier that had separate planners. Here the dispatchers help to track down backhauls also. There have been some problematic loads .....hence Panhandle's reference to the truck load of pumpkins. They put 40.000 pounds of pumpkins in a dry box with no vents, loaded out at 7pm and had a delivery time of 5:30am the next morning.....900 miles away. The King repeatedly warned her, the broker, and the shipper that it was not within the realm of being close to possible .....and not a good idea to put any kind of produce in a dry box. They all had $ signs in their eyes and said run with it. The pumpkins loaded out in Texas, the weather was in the 80's and remained in the 80's the whole time it took to deliver this load. They were refused. There is now a load of decaying pumpkins loaded on a trailer sitting in the yard. It was a costly mistake on her part.
jungHo, I knew that George was most likely one of the rare few dispatchers ....he would have to be to have lasted more than 15 years.
jungHo, gntorres61, passport220 and 1 other person Thank this. -
^ Please send me a PM with the numbers if you think the need may arise. Hold off if you don't.

After the Tyson delivery was complete, I was ordered to come here to Barstow to wait for a swap. So that was 90 paid miles yesterday. The swap should arrive 8am today and I will be paid about 90 more miles to run back into LA and make another delivery today. $27 per day, cash money!
Hopefully I will get a pick up for the backhaul this afternoon and run some miles.gntorres61 and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
at transam only the best DM's have any say over trips
most are just relaying trip info from the trip planners
trip planners cover different areas of the country
so if you think your stuck say in the north east
it is because you haven't run past that planners jurisdiction
not defending DM but they have too many drivers (75) and too many newbies
often 25% have under a month
so over worked DM get jaded by the stupidity inherent with new people
not right but humanpassport220, Panhandle flash and gntorres61 Thank this. -

Passport, in Olathe Conrad's desk is in the farthest cube back in dispatch. He sits right over near Julie under the flat screen TV that shows who is on the phone and who is not.. Mary sits on the other side of his partition in the first cube of desks. Paul, who has Chris' job now is in the first office on the right when you walk back into Ops.
HometimeQueen and passport220 Thank this.
