George, you may want to get a power nap in. Last time I had a PM done all day, got my truck back at 10pm. The angry little black box had information for an overnight dispatch when it was returned to me. Had me take a load that was already in the Olathe yard that night for a 6am delivery in Omaha the next day. Good luck.

Love your humor, Pete. Anyway, got word my truck was done. Got a dispatch with a trailer off the yard here headed for Commerce California for a Wed del at 0800. That's not happening. First of all, my 70 has all of 44 minutes left. Gotta wait until after midnight to get back 9 hours and 47 min. My guess I will t-call/swap in Denver with one of my esteemed colleagues which is fine with me. East LA doesn't thrill me. Never sent a 001 load confirmation. Sent a 99 freeform to DM2 explaining my situation and if he wants me to keep this load. He sent me the same info, so I am hooked to it and will wait until midnight to depart. Like Passport says, time to take a nap. Denver, here I come. Deuces.

they are all just big hills without snow
Donner is just a big deal because it is 44 miles downgrade
Vail on 70 is one of the worse
Monteagle is just as bad if you dont respect itgntorres61 Thanks this. -
If your load is going to LA, you gotta take the southern route, I-40 due to the chain law already being in effect on part of I-70 in Colorado. Your fuel solution should also show your running along I-40 with stops along that interstate.gntorres61 and .honeybadger. Thank this.

Thanks again, Passport. I got no fuel solution, and no I 40 route either. I 70 to I 15 through Vegas and so on. Checked the weather map and didnt show any snow. Dont mind going I40. Will look that up. Dispatch must be desperate. Still can't believe they will have me take it all the way. And be late too?

Made a pick up in Los Angeles last Wednesday (Buena Park), will make a delivery in New York City (The Bronx) tomorrow. A pick up and a few deliveries along the way, but for the most part stayed on route for a true and natural cross-country trip.
Panhandle flash Thanks this. -
Yeah, I just wanted to give you a heads up, if a swap is in mind, your swap driver will be on I-40.
I am with you, I wanted to drive I-70 as it is a shorter route (at least on the way back, LA to Denver) and just to see the sights but a more experienced driver who runs that route told me there is a good chance I will get stopped and ticketed if I got caught on that part of I-70 without chains onboard. Snow or not.
If you ask your DM for an updated Fuel Solution, I do believe it will show you stopping all along I-40.Last edited: Nov 3, 2014
gntorres61 and .honeybadger. Thank this. -
Passport, you are my best friend tonight, buddy. Haven't been west since I was training at Abilene with Johnboy and Big Brin. We ran into snow in Flagstaff, but the chains never came out. Definitely going thru Tulsa and OKC down to I 40.
passport220 Thanks this. -
^Happy to help. I did the trip just last week. Olathe to LA, took US route 54 after Wichita through the rest of Kansas. Did not hit I-40 until Tucumcari, NM. 54 kind of sucked but not as bad as you might think. That is what the GPS told me to do and since I had been fighting with TA, I decided it was best to be a good boy and do it.
Seems they always have us stop in Barstow for fuel. I like the truck parking at the McDonald's above the Pilot. The Pilot has a tiny parking lot but it means no wait for a shower since not many trucks can fit in. Also have free WiFi at the McDonald's. Good luck!gntorres61 Thanks this.
