I finally got a fuel solution after I put in 50 gallons at the same Pilot they recommended. And they wanted me to put 51 gallons in. Yeesh. Yeah the others were Flying J in Amarillo (Yellowtown) and in Barstow CA.

I don't think of us as unskilled or uneducated. I think we as a group break the mold with our use of the social media. Yes I will do anything to help change the public's perception of us as a group (short of wearing a coat and tie and buttoned down shoes. Still prefer my flippy flops until its gets below 40-45 degrees. I really enjoy and take pride in what I do and that comes out when I speak to shippers and receivers. I think of myself as an ambassador to TransAm first, and a truck driver second. Luckily I have been favorably received by everyone. Of course I make sure I am clean shaven and showered and I bet you guys do too. We have the power to change that perception and put ourselves in the best light possible. We can upgrade the profession by just taking pride in our appearance and displaying a positive upbeat attitude. Its not that hard. Enough.

Should not have done that swap. Got unloaded they give me a preplan, I get it all planned out then when I send in empty message I get a totally different plan. Trailer needs washout so I had to find something and now more than likely I can not pick up today and probably get a new plan for tomorrow but never know. I had 3 hours to get to shipper and get loaded with 133 miles to go and get a washout. I told them I need a shower and a washout so I am done for the day will pick up in the morning. I could have made original plan but no way the new one. They were trying to T-Call it from the get go. What ever time for shower and get some sleep.

    Be safe out there

Glad it worked out for you George. We will check back with you when it is -14 at your delivery in Detroit in a month and see if you still feel that way about California :)

Just for the purpose of discussion at 33,800 I run it and don't think twice. I may not fill to the tippy top but otherwise good to go in my book. I like the California runs if 1) you did not always have to wait 24 hours to make your pick up for the backhaul. 2) you did not have to fight about the 230 miles or so you get shorted on backhauls to the Denver area (due to having to take the southern route to avoid chain laws). If TransAm fixed those two problems, I would sign up to be their California dedicated driver.

Camped out behind a Lowe's in NJ waiting for the right time to drive into The Bronx for my 4am delivery. Is there ever a right time to drive into The Bronx?

    gntorres61 and dennisroc Thank this.

33800 on drives, no problem. Remember that most states will allow you an APU weight of either 4 or 500 lbs on your drives. Just can't go over on gross.

HTQ, last week on the roaddog, they did a segment on a poll that somebody did. It showed that most of the people, thought that drivers were doing a good job and had a favorable impression of us. Thanks anyway for your fiery defense of us.

I am going to Hunt's. I do plan to park overnight (8 hr, SB split break), just don't want to drive in until after traffic dies down for the night. Leave here maybe 11pm local time. Bet you never have to worry about rush hour when driving through Medicine Bow.
