I have some questions just wanted to make sure y'all didn't mind me asking. I was told by the recruiter I will start out at .30 CPM so with that being said can I at least average 2500 miles a week? I live in Mississippi is that a good area for freight?

jay the biggest thing to remember is Transam is a starter company
good enough for what they do get you experience to move on
just DONT lease it is a recipe for failure as a newbie

may is more of an I80 company running west
transam while not having a lot of Miss freight runs thru a lot
having a lot of florida to texas freight

Welcome jay-da-trucker! As Panhandle said we have this thread and the original thread, that can be found here- http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...g-inc-olathe-ks.html?highlight=transam+olathe, that are full of information. We always suggest that someone read back about a year and write down anything that you still have questions on. It is hard to answer general questions because what is important to one person may not be important to another.

TransAm is a good starter company to gain experience with. The training leaves something to be desired, and can be a good or horrible experience depending on who you get as a trainer. The training period is very short. The pay is middle of the spectrum, there are companies that pay less and there are companies that pay more. If home time is important to you, they do make an effort to get you home when scheduled. OTR and reefer are always valuable experience and will help when you want to move on to something else. As a starter company they are forgiving of beginner mistakes. The health insurance qualifies under the ACA .....and that is about all that can be said for it.

Get together a list of what you want to know and we will answer you honestly......the good and the bad. And should you decide to go with TransAm we will be here to help you along the way.

I'm considering Trans Am I live in NC near Burlington. Is that a good area for them as far as getting home, I don't mind staying out 2-3 weeks long as the miles are there. How is their home time & pay starting out? Training period?

    2500 miles @.30 is $750 before taxes
gets better after 18 months experience with Transam
I landed a job avergering $1250/week only out 8-10 days
with the company paying health care for wife and I

remember your starting a new career
even Dr's dont start on top

TransAm allows 4 days off per month. One option is to schedule your home time for every two weeks and take 2 days off. For the most part they try to honor that. There will be times that you won't make $500.....and times that you make much more. You have to learn to look at your income as an average.....and always plan ahead and have some money set back for those times that just suck.
Twelve cents per mile of that 30 cents will be per diem.....and tax free, that helps quite a bit when you are first starting out.
