I don't think there will be any problem, jay. If you are within their hiring area they will be able to get you home. TransAm is one of the few with guaranteed home time...that was a priority for us too and one of the reasons we started with them.

I can't remember an exact timeline, Lwood, it wasn't very long. George or his wife jungHo would probably be the best ones to answer that as they are the newest members of our online family.

We don't want to sugar coat anything, jay and Lwood. TransAm is a large carrier......there will be many swaps and dispatch can leave a lot to be desired at times. Being a reefer company and a meathauler there will be many times that your days and nights will get switched around. You will learn to make good use of your time if you want good loads and better paychecks. Many loads going to the northeast ...way up in yankee land :biggrin_25525: The training with TransAm can be a blessing or a nightmare. If you get a lousy trainer it will seem way too long, if you get a good one it will be way too short of a time because you will want to learn more. jaso can fill you in on the training....and if you are extremely blessed you will get him or someone like him as your trainer.

All of that being said, you will learn if you tough out those first months that are so very stressful. You will gain experience that will put more money in your pocket if and when you decide to go with someone else. Reefer and OTR experience are valuable in the driving world.

Another good thing that we haven't mentioned in awhile is that TransAm will not push you to drive if you feel it is unsafe.

passport220, gntorres61 and dennisroc Thank this.

Lwood53 I get home every two weeks or so and I live 70 miles east of Rocky Mount. Ususally, I will have a 125-375 mile drive home when I clear my last drop. You live in a better area. In my opinion, TransAm does a really good job of getting the drivers home as they utilize swaps between us to facilitate the hometime. I will say this though, if you ask for Thanksgiving or Christmas off, be prepared to work 6-8 weeks in a row as you can put in for one hometime session at a time. Your drive home does NOT count as a day off. Hope this helps.

^ ^ ^ Yes, George and I were talking about his call back time. He got a call from TA within a day or two after submitting his application. They move pretty quickly, if things check out ok. Good luck, Lwood and Jay-da-trucker! HTQ is right, though, there will be ups/downs in your hours and pay. Passport's pay looks quite impressive. George has been with TA since May and his checks haven't been as good. It really does depend on load assignments largely and whether swaps are rapid or you have to wait quite a while for the swap to take place. George had a few weeks of back to back engine problems & repairs, which caused very low pay. Good news there, however, if you are OTR away from either TA yard and need repairs, TA does pay for hotel rooms and taxi fare. You could have to pay up front and get reimbursed later, or sometimes they let you write a company check.. If you are at Olathe, KS having repairs done, they put you up in a private bunk room. At the Rockwall, TX yard, if repairs are done there, you have to stay in a hotel.
