In Laurel, Ms. for the night. Told Masonite I was getting short on hours and they loaded me pretty quick. 70miles of us highways then all interstate.
The more you go home the less you make. I will say this whatever you do DO NOT LEASE. They will make it sound real easy and the best thing since sliced bread but remember you have no experience and if you make mistakes that is on your dime. If you go company you learn on theirs. You will make mistakes and it takes time to get used to this lifestyle for you and your family. HTQ is right on when she says look at your pay month to month not week to week. Look at your average. I do train and if you would like to find out more PM me and we can exchange numbers and I can fill you in on whatever knowledge I may have.
My comp can't see my WiFi card will try again. Figured I would just shut it down for a while. Doing all this on my phone, I am a techie now. LOL
Be safe out therepassport220, gntorres61, dennisroc and 1 other person Thank this. -
Jay, I think it is! Been here six months almost and have had my ups and downs and they have handled my mistakes (incidents/minor accident) with class. They did not shame me, embarass me, force me to lease or anything. I think it is a stand up group of people.dennisroc, HometimeQueen and passport220 Thank this.

Ok so it has it's ups and down like any company but their pretty straight forward about everything

Just wanted to check in and confirm I'm still alive since I've been quiet while busting my butt the last few days. I'm stuck in the US Foods staging lot. Currently giving serious consideration to setting the truck and trailer on fire and saying "f*** it, I'm out" and I pretty much made that clear to my DM and risk management.
I'm tired of busting my tail the way I do and the only one who appreciates it is my primary DM. Just a couple more months til I'm in a position to sign this truck on to Landstar. I can't wait.HometimeQueen, passport220 and dennisroc Thank this. -
Yes, our HB is a cut up!

I understand you Badger. TransAm is an over automated system and I think support for drivers has gone downhill since they started the new dispatch arrangement. Good luck and hang in there for Landstar. I admire you in how you fight to keep your plan going for yourself and your family!
Our badger is a bad influence on me. I already turned my refer unit off once to get attention after she mentioned it ... now I will be at Wal-mart pricing lighter fluid. How much do you think I would need to get a truck and trailer going?jaso37, jungHo, .honeybadger. and 5 others Thank this. -
I'm sorry, honeybadger.....you know that it will get better.....before it gets worse again
.....passport, behave yourself! I don't know if I can deal with two of you playing with matches!
TransAm had so many do-less dispatchers years ago, that probably cost more money and more problems than they were worth. In an odd way I believe this new system was meant to be more efficient, less costly and also to work better for the drivers since you would be working with the same people on a regular basis. However like so many things of this nature that they try....it sucks. From what most of you say your secondary DM is a waste of breath.
The only thing that I can tell you is that eventually TransAm will figure out that it is not working and correct the problem. That's the good news .....the bad news is that it will take nine months to a year for them to come to that conclusion. This is another reason that I have always advocated for a FAIR daily minimum pay for all of the drivers, company and lease....it would make the situation a lot less stressful when these failed plans that they implement effect your mileage. I think I told you about the unqualified DM that the King had for 9 months.....we had a 30% drop in pay. By the time he finally had a good DM again the King was too war-weary and distrustful of the TA system.dennisroc, passport220 and jungHo Thank this. -
Turning the reefer off works, doesn't it?! And then you essentially have a hostage until your demands are met. They want the reefer on but you're in control and have wants and needs from them, lol. I should come with a warning label that says "don't try this at home".
After some thought and discussion, my truck and trailer will not be set ablaze. Instead I will get rid of the damaged product then PC to Greensboro. I will drop off the truck at Kenworth and then they stripey dog and I are going to my buddy's place so we can drink til we don't remember our names. On Wednesday when I'm sober I will deal with getting another load. I just am at that stress point where I need to be able to blow it off in a controlled environment. Might as well take hometime away from home cause I can crash in Greensboro until I'm fit to drive again.gntorres61, HometimeQueen, dennisroc and 2 others Thank this.
