Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

they haul meat to the east coast
haul anything to head back west to get more meat
the theory is meat pays company $3.00/mile
then the backhaul pays enough to get you back to the next big money load
you probably wouldnt have lots of loads in NC but enough to get you home they have -
Ok. Yea long as they could get me home, do they have a problem with if you take home time every 2 weeks
-
like most OTR carriers you get a day off for every week on the road
so you can go home 2 days every 2 weeks or 4 /4 etc
we all know this all sounds daunting to the new driver used to the way "normal people" live their lives
for some OTR is a jail sentence until they can move onto different paths in the industry
It is important to remember it isn't a life sentence it is a path to something else
The other thing is until you are actually driving you can't begin to even know what segment of the industry
you want to end up in
local jobs are not the end all for everyone
almost none are 9-5 most 12-14 for 5 days or many 5 nights with 2 days off
that you mostly sleep thru to get ready to roll again
DOT foods pays good money but you touch every box many times before the truck is empty with multiple stops
none of this you will see until your out here
some like the irregular routing a company like TA brings
I used to get mad if I traveled the same road every 2-3 weeks
now i drive the same run for another carrier 2200 miles each way with 2-3 days off and do it again
this job wouldn't have been possible without the experience gained at TAPanhandle flash, HometimeQueen and gntorres61 Thank this. -
What Cranky said is correct.
I wrote this in the old thread:
I wrote that after my first 6 months with TA. I was on the northern routes but there are also drivers, sometimes myself that run primarily southern routes. Same Midwest pick ups but deliveries in Atlanta, the Carolinas and Florida. Lots of OJ and whatever can be found going back west. Lots of time on I-40 & I-75.Last edited: Nov 11, 2014

I would call you comrade but I never know what kind of vampire hours you are running, don't want to wake you up with a ringing phone. Have you joined us normal folks and started running banker's hours?jdmredneck33 Thanks this. -
If the rest of the world would just come to their senses and take up this same attitude, life would be soooooooooo much easier!wulfman75 and Panhandle flash Thank this.
