Congrats Jay, hope all goes well for you. And wow, I go on a short vacation and things blow up on here, took me 2 days to catch up.
House is going slow as to be expected, but all indications are looking good right now. and will hopefully close on or before the 4th of next month. And thank you for asking.
As far as getting into the industry timing is going to be everything as I have recently found out that my only nephew has decided to join the Marines, due to ship to basic after the new year, when exactly is a unknown but that is making me decide to wait until after his graduation from boot as I do want to be there to support him. I have been figuring the dates out and even if I start school at the beginning of the year it would still put me in a position to have to wait till his graduation to start or I may have issues getting there due to anything that may come up on the road. Then again I may just wait till the end of the year to get trained during adverse winter conditions like I was hoping to do anyways, which also may help get some funds in reserve for anything I may need when I start.

Hi there, SRQGhost! I was wondering what had happened to you.
dennisroc Thanks this. -
Was on a short vacation, mostly trying to get things done in prep for a move. And until my nephew dropped that bombshell on me I was even looking at starting school beginning of next year, even made a unannounced visit to the school I was looking at just to gauge their additude to someone just showing up and get some more info about financing. All in all they remembered me which is good after six months and did not seem annoyed that I would just show up unannounced, which I am taking as a good sign about them. But in catching up I did confirm my idea to hold off maybe a good thing so I can ensure I am there for my nephew on the whole timing thing.
HometimeQueen and passport220 Thank this. -
Eyebrow raising indeed!
The quality of your individual dispatcher is hit or miss (no comment and cold shoulder to what Cranky said) I prefer the supervisors out of Olathe. If things go wrong, I would prefer not to have to deal with the main supervisor out of Rockwall. She is not horrible, just the ones in Olathe are better at problem solving.
All that said, I don't think as a driver we have a choice or is our input even considered. We are just shoved into an available slot regardless if we intake through Olathe or Rockwall.dennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
you do know life will go on things always come up eventually you will have to jump in

FYI to all drivers. There is a device called a "high altitude module" that could be installed on our bunk heaters. We don't have it. I found out from shivering in the cold in Denver that we don't. I was able to get my bunk heater to fire up but I had to reset it 5 or 6 time. Once it is running, the danger of it is shutting down is less than the problems of getting it to fire up initially.
So my advice to drivers if you are in a high altitude area like Denver or Flagstaff. Don't shut down your heater once you have it running, if you become too hot (I know the temp settings don't always work well on all of the trucks), better to open a curtain or vent than to shut down the heater.gntorres61, HometimeQueen, Panhandle flash and 1 other person Thank this. -

dont the girls need some supervision with the home schooling

I write out a week's worth of lesson plans at a time and let them have at it. If they don't get done and do a good job then they have to redo it and do not get to go anywhere .......I am so mean!
jungHo and gntorres61 Thank this.
