I've had the opportunity for brief meet ups and extended running. Ran with my best friend who also drives for TransAm and ran with him for 2 weeks ((granted there was some manipulation of runs on my part which company guys wouldn't be able to do)). I've bumped into Cranky and Joey by chance, and intentionally stopped for a chat and a meal with several other friends. Tends to happen at least once a month. Though for the last six weeks it has been incredibly social for me. Had my 2 weeks with my boy, hung out with a friend who was on hometime, run into my Landstar friend, ran into my BFF again, and this weekend and going to spend a day or two crashing with my ex while I get PMs done. And since I'm sitting in Rockwall another friend might come pick me up for dinner. It's nice to be able to sit down for dinner and have a decent conversation. It happens enough for me that I don't get too bored out here.

That sounds like it gets a little busy with friends haha but still enough alone time. I will be traveling with the wife so always some one to talk with and meals and downtime.

At least I think it will be a good thing, haha

This is a little local market in Liberal, a favorite of the locals. It is at the intersection around the Subway. It is at the intersection of Pancake Blvd. and US 83 By Pass. The King says it is clean, good and very reasonably priced.

George said he stopped last night at a Mom/Pop's type truck stop. We'll have to store that address in case he makes a run there again. Thanks, HTQ.

A skunk! I'm with you! I'd be quickly closing the door too! I'm assuming the dogs didn't go out just then either? If they did, you would have been telling about giving them a tomato sauce or soup bath! Never a dull moment at your house, huh?

I think I was a little confused when I typed in the last post. Last night George stayed at the Mom/Pop's place near Duncan, Oklahoma. He just got his load of beef a few minutes ago at Liberal, KS and is back in Oklahoma. He has about 5 hours left to drive on his clock. He just told me that he saw 2 Trans Am trucks heading in the direction of Liberal, KS. Must be a popular spot. Oh, and, his first drop is Montgomery, Alabama (not Birmingham), then Atlanta, GA.

Quick question ??? Does TransAm pay or reimburse for CDL school. Probably on here somewhere but thought someone might know that is on here often.

Also what is PrePass ? Is that for scales , tolls ???

And why was it shut off to begin with ?

TA does not pay or repay for schooling. That's another way of them being cheap. Prepares, for TA and a lot of other companies, is a combination of a pike pass and a transponder that talks to the scale house. Green lite means pass it by, red lite means pull it in. If a truck has no prepass, it must pull into any open scale.

I am so disappointed. Stopped at The Globe for a burger and fries, and they've changed their fries. Their now buying precut frozen fries. Yuck!!! Looks like the only place for decent fries now, is the truck stop in Ft Wayne.

I haven't checked in years, but many of the starter companies that would reimburse you for school paid less per mile ....in the 26cpm range and you were obligated to stay for a period of time before you were reimbursed anything for your school. For us, it was better to pay for his school up front, make a higher cpm from the start and be under no obligation to stay with them if things weren't as they should have been.
