The medical card is only good for one year with diabetes. I don't think you are allowed to be on insulin and pass the physical. You have to ask your doctor about that but I am pretty sure that is what my Dr. said

Hey jungho things didnt workout with jb hunt. The truck i was issued was very old and small also it was a 10 speed. I was having trouble shifting and they didnt have any automatics so i left. I am now with us xpress i started last week. So far things are going great. Glad to hear your daughter doing ok.

Thx. Glad you got on with US Express. Keep us posted. Best of luck to you!
dennisroc and gntorres61 Thank this. -
Cranky you are right about being 68 before I make a decision. When I started checking into driving it seemed that I had heard somewhere that truckers are paid pretty well but after being on here and seeing the truckers side of the story it is not as what it seemed before.
As I have said before its not all about the money but giving up a nice steady paycheck with benefits is really hard to do at this time. Although I still think about driving everyday and some days my job is a piece of cake and other days it is full of stress.
My wife and I have really had a hard time with this decision both for the same reasons. If I didn't have a job it would be an easy decision , lol
The way it looks right now it might never happen or could happen tomorrow.
At least now I know its a lot more than just driving. I have seen people that are so #### mad they want to just get out of the truck and leave it to the same people talking about what a great run they had that day. Like anything there is always good and bad'
We just thought it would be nice to drive around the country and we still do but now I realize all the negative that can and does happen but hey that's just part of it.
Thanks for sharing the videos from the Maverick guy , watched them all and very interesting. Not interested in flatbed but they now have temp controlled he said they don't like to use the term " Reefer " for obvious reasons , lol
I knew about the 1 yr medical for Diabetics on pills and im pretty sure that I cant drive a truck if I am on insulin so no problem there.passport220 Thanks this. -
Anyone know how to share a Youtube video on here , my brain is in slo mo tonight , well I guess its 1 am here in Korea Tuesday morning and 3 pm in Indiana Monday afternoon.
So confusing lol -
That's wonderful news about your daughter, jungHo! I am glad that she gets to come home with you for awhile. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery! How is your mom doing?
melo, I'm sorry things didn't work with JBHunt, I have looked at them a couple of times over the years and there has always been something about them that just didn't click for me. I think that you made a good choice with USExpress. I have known a couple of drivers that went with them after bad experiences elsewhere and they seem happy working there......once the training process is over and they are in their own truck.
dennisroc, TransAm doesn't have any further physical requirements other than the drug testing, so once you get your medical card you are good to go. Driving will not be the kind of money that you are used to making ....that's for sure!
But if you are looking for a challenge and an adventure, the opportunity for your wife to travel with you......I think you would make an excellent driver!
jay, you are one lucky young man to have our jaso as your trainer! jaso will give you the best foundation for success.....so keep your notebook out and learn all that you can while you are fortunate enough to be with him.
As far as I know, Pete, oliver2's husband, George, left TA and went to Roehl until a local job became available. She was the art teacher that did some wonderful paintings in her spare time and George was the one that let his truck freeze up in Minnesota last winter.
OTR Wife and her husband were the other couple from Florida. Her husband was unfortunate in his DM and I think it soured them on the whole experience. Mike also found a local job.
gamma and ajacks are hanging in there. The last that we talked TransAm has treated them fairly....to the point that I think he is considering coming back to TA once he is cleared. Unfortunately, while his foot has healed the damage to his knee has not and I believe he has to have surgery. They are a great couple and have a wonderful outlook and a strong family, plus gamma is just born to drive! TA will be lucky if he comes back to work for them.
I haven't heard anything from kf4omc since he left Werner. I know he wanted to be home every night and spend time with his son. I pray that all has worked out well for him.passport220, Panhandle flash, jungHo and 1 other person Thank this.
