6-State Trooper Project to kick-off multi-state enforcement effort this weekend--
The Ohio State Highway Patrol will join forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project to focus efforts on distracted driving enforcement statewide. The high-visibility enforcement effort begins Sunday, July 20 at 12:01 a.m. and continues through Saturday, July 26 at 11:59 p.m.
In 2013, 56 people died due to driver distractions, including phone, texting, electronic communication, other electronic device, other inside vehicle and external distraction. The Patrol is looking to lower this death count through increased awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and focused enforcement on the roadways.
“The Patrol is serious about eliminating threats on roadways, and we’re proud of this collaborative, multi-state effort,” said Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent. “By cracking down on distracted driving, we are making Ohio and surrounding states safer.”
The 6-State Trooper Project includes the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Indiana State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, West Virginia State Police and the Michigan State Police.
It is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and intelligence sharing.

 

Jaso , that is great info. Sounds like you are a good trainer and would be nice to train with you or someone like you.

I am heading back to Korea on Sunday. I will see what is going on with my company. I got a email from my friend (co-worker) and he said instead of our contract expiring in Dec. it has been extended 6 months past that.

I am not sure how long I will stay , maybe a couple more months or longer depending on several things. The contract will probably be awarded to us form 10 yrs but ready to move back to the USA.

Is Orientation being held in Kansas ?

I want to study on You Tube how to operate the Qualcomm or PeopleNet , does TA have The newer Qualcomm ,older Qualcomm , PeopleNet or something different. I have watched a few videos and seems pretty simple but would like to understand and operate the way I will need to when I am driving.

I bought the 2014 Rand McNally truckers road atlas , it just arrived in Korea before I flew here to Indiana so I didn't have much time to look through it , I want to practice trip planning and also hope to find info on You Tube.

Do you know where to find good info on trip planning or the trucking rules you are speaking of.

Also need to find where to study HOS , I sort of understand it but need to read more about it.

Is there anywhere you know of that would help me understand TA's paperwork ? Do they have any training on there website ?

Do trucks come with GPS , if not i will probably get a truckers GPS to use as a back up and Google earth on my Ipad or cell Phone.

If I am right orientation is 3 days , so maybe Wed. , Thu and Fri. Then on the weekend what I'd there to do ? Anything there at TA that can help with the training or just hangout at the Hotel.

Do they pay hotel or travel and what about me driving there ? I live close to Indianapolis and can drive no problem but don't want to leave my car there.

Do you take your truck and trailer home and if so what about parking and what are TA's rules on that.

I have tried TA's website but info is slow and all,y notes are in Korea.

. I35S South of Waco, major back up due to Hazmat tanker rollover at mm312. It's at a stand still for over 30 miles.....have moved 2 miles in 2 hours

I've been up .....it just takes a few cups of coffee to get the gears grinding! And usually I start by seeing what's going on and gathering information.....ya never know when it might come in handy!

Welcome SRQGhost! Panhandle is correct I only have the two teenagers...... and then there is this thread .... I am sure everyone will do their best to answer any questions that you may have and help in any way that they can.
