I know this won't affect you today, Pete .....I assume you are in LA making your delivery.....but thought I would give you a head's up.

    CALIFORNIA - I-80 DONNER
    FROM: CHP-Truckee
    Happy Monday!
It is snowing in Truckee this morning, and we have Chain Control on I-80.
I-80 is R-2 controls from Baxter to Truckee.
SR-89 is R-1 controls from Truckee to Plumas County Line

    Remember,
R-1 controls means 2 wheel drive vehicles with snow tires are ok to proceed.
R-2 controls mean 2 wheel drive vehicles must chain up, 4 wheel drives with mud/snow tires are ok to proceed.
The speed limit on the freeway in chain control is 30 MPH. Make sure you slow down, increase your following distance and give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going.

jungHo, prayers for your mom and for you also.....I know it has to be stressful.

jaso, I knew it! Already taking care of the list! :yes2557:

crazy driver, did your swap ever arrive? :biggrin_2554:

travis, benefits should be available to you after 60 days of employment. They changed their insurance in April of this year. I don't even see how they can call it health insurance anymore but for some odd reason it still qualifies under the ACA. TransAm raises are half a cent every 6 months. If I remember right the bonus is also a half a cent quarterly on miles driven .....however they do everything they can to keep from paying that bonus. If you edit your elog, no bonus. TransAm doesn't pay any kind of fuel bonus to their drivers.

gntorres61, jungHo and truckertravis84 Thank this.

We talk a lot about driver schools, training and the qualifications of trainers. The FMCSA has decided to go with a negotiated rulemaking process to try and set some standards. They want approx. 20 individuals to serve on this board along with all of the big interests and money that will be represented. I don't know how big of a voice the individuals will have in that process, if any at all ....they are already making noise about the cost of proper training! But it is an opportunity to speak up and speak out. You can apply for yourself and/or nominate someone for the position. We need all of you experienced drivers to consider doing this. It may be a lost cause, but if drivers don't speak up then we have to accept part of the blame. Who knows? We may turn out to be like the "Mouse That Roared". We need to be a part of this process. Read the article and consider clicking on the contact at the bottom of the page .....Pete, Panhandle, jaso, passport, honeybadger.

A winter storm warning continues for parts of the panhandle until 5:00 p.m.,(MDT) Monday night (12/15). Moderate to heavy snow, along with blowing and drifting is making travel difficult. Troopers along with local Sheriff's Deputies continue to respond to numerous slide-offs and motorists assists along I-80 in Kimball and Cheyenne Counties. Motorists are encouraged evaluate the need to travel and to Check 511 Nebraska Traveler Information http://1.usa.gov/16laUEP for updated weather and road conditions. If you must travel always wear your seat belt, and be sure to pack a winter weather emergency kit in your vehicle.
