We had a truck catch fire in Wildwood, FL earlier this evening. Tentative word is that the driver is ok. Truck and trailer are a complete loss though.
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Ok, the driver is indeed safe and is in a hotel but he lost everything. I will be touching base with him tomorrow to see what I might be able to do to help him out. My next load doesn't pickup until Monday afternoon so I've got plenty of time to PC all over creation after I'm empty and at least make sure this guy has something to eat and a change of clothes.

HB , Congrats on your 2 years with TA !!!
It is nice how you are offering to help out the guy with the truck fire. Glad everything is alright with him.
If you had to do it all over again do you think you would sign on with TA again ? Just curious how you feel after that much time. -
Truck and trailer fires ???
I know a lot of trailer tires go flat and can cause a trailer fire from friction or brakes getting hot maybe but I am wondering what are other reasons trucks catch fire ?
I am sure a lot of electrical stuff can be the cause.
Anyone know what the main causes are ? I don't have any stats , just interested.
I think I seen a video on YouTube where a truck was just sitting at the truck stop and burning. I think the driver got out but would suck if he didn't .
Are truck fires common , seems like I see a lot on the news.
Also if you are trapped in the sleeper and the cab is on fire can you get out of the truck from the sleeper anyway ? Side door .... Window. .??? -
If I had to do it all over again I would still sign on with TransAm. I gripe, but am fairly happy here. I would still lease, just do a few things different.
In regards to emergencies, the T700 is the only one that does have an escape door on the sleeper. The 660 and 680 do. Lots of things can cause a truck fire. In this case it was the reefer that caught fire and before the driver could disconnect burning plastic feel onto the back of the cab and the airlines and spread.
After I empty out I'm gonna get this guy to WalmartPanhandle flash and dennisroc Thank this. -
Thanks HB for the input

In Bloominton, Il for the night. About 130 miles from delivery.
Nice thing your doing HB.
Dennis one of the cause of a fire beside reefer is using the wrong the wrong wires for the inverter. Some drivers try to use the small wires instead of getting the largeR correct ones. They are not made for the big watt inverters. Some companies will not even let you hook them up you must get it done profesionallydennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this.
