Thank you, honeybadger, for helping another driver in need. It was a lovely act of genuine kindness on your part.

Thanks for the info Jaso , in aviation we use fuses but also circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker pops try to reset it only one time. If it does not reset or pops again , need to troubleshoot and fix the problem.
Maybe circuit breakers would help , do trucks have circuit breakers or mostly fuses ?
My niece had her 2 kids in the back of their SUV in seat belts and a car full of groceries and saw smoke coming from under the dash and the smell of something burning.
She was on a country road , no one around , no cell phones back then and grabbed her kids and ran away from the car. A few minutes later the car had burned to the ground.
The car was only 6 month old !
Sure would hate to get stuck in the sleeper.HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Here is a link to an interesting study conducted on commercial vehicle fires. It was conducted between 2003-2008, I couldn't find anything more recent. There are some interesting conclusions in this study though ....it is a little bit long to read but is worth skimming through. They concluded that newer model trucks were more likely to have a fire.....if they studied the statistics now I think they would find that still to hold true.....even more so. They felt the data suggested that all of the advances in electronics were great for pinpointing smaller mechanical problems but were not useful when there was a significant mechanical fault that could pose a safety risk. There were several other interesting findings in the study. That younger, less experienced drivers were more likely to have a fire and that trucks that had been in any type of striking accident were more likely to experience a fire later on.....after repairs. I believe they felt an accident increased the odds of a fire later on by about 25%.

The data that suggests that trucks that have been in even minor accidents are more prone to fire is especially troubling......unless you have been the only driver of your company truck you have no idea what the history is. However, it is something to be aware of and pay attention to.dennisroc and gntorres61 Thank this. -

Here at the Loves in Columbia TN South of Nashville. Was stuck in traffic over 2 hours. Went one minute over on my 14 (plus post trip). Tried to stop at the TA 13 miles before but their parking lot was torn all to hell with construction and nowhere to park. This about 6pm. Currently on a three dropper my first being at 1030 this morning in Albertville AL, the second in Macon GA at 0500 Tues morning and finals in Lexington NC just after midnight Tuesday night Wed wee hours. Then I suppose I will be headed to the house a day or two early? Guess it was their best chance to get me home on time. I guess the slow season starts soon? Deuces.

George post trip won't put you over since you can be on duty past 14, just can't drive. I know what TA you are talking about it's a mess. All the truck stops in the nashville area fill really quick. except for the TA on 24, usually can find a spot there.jungHo, .honeybadger. and HometimeQueen Thank this.

If you ever haul combos into Dietz and Watson of Philadelphia, talk to the guy who comes out and gets you, and they'll wash the trailer for out for 20 bucks. Won't get a receipt for it tho, so be prepared to make one. They also have OVNP.
HometimeQueen and wulfman75 Thank this. -
