I miss you too lovely Queen. The snow is only temporary. Your great attitude will endure and well out last it.
It is weird. I post pics and talk about my choices in life, to drive a truck and then take months off for vacation because I think I just want someone to tell me it is ok ... lol. Really, I think I am just looking for people to tell me my decision to be an OTR truck driver is not crazy. Many people in my life don't understand how I can give up a more conventional career with a lot more traditional rewards and security. Oh well, for right now, I am enjoying bucking the trend.

Yes, she does have a lovely sister :)

I think HB gave the right answer. I have had a washout at that place but I don't remember the price. It is within the standard range and they do take our checks.

You will be picking up juice at Saddle Creek Corp. It runs with the refer at 35 continuous. They do take it serious that you pre cool your trailer. It depends what guard is working if they are a pain in the butt or not. Old white guy is the pain.

They normally have us pick up later in the evening and the guard will not let you come in more than an hour early. Office and warehouse workers are easy to deal with. I recommend you call the Saddle Creek office and ask them permission to come early, wait and be on hand at their convenience to load early if it works out. Then keep then name of who you talk to and give in to the guard for early entry.

I am looking forward to my visit to the Phils...now for one more reason! I just read about a new menu item at KFC in the Phlippines called a "double down dog". Replace the bread of a hot dog with chicken!

Logging a pretrip at the first service plaza on the WVA turnpike. Lots of parking at 8pm last night. Never ever find parking at Tamarack. Fuggedaboutit. Onto St. Louis but hoping for Warrenton, but will settle for Okawville or Mount Vernon IL. HB sorryabout your bimbo episode, but looks like you are turning urine into lemonade. Chin up. Passport, awesome hearing from you, keep daring to be different. Time to go! Deuces.

I was not expecting to wake up so stiff and sore today. Ugh. And yesterday got to me more than I expected. My pulse starts racing when anything bigger than a Honda civic passes me and I tense up. It's even worse when anything with a trailer passes and even wavers toward the zipper. I don't like this feeling and that I can't stop it. I need a day or two out of the truck to clear my head. A parking accident or something wouldn't bother me but a moving accident over 60mph really rattled me. :(

^ ^ That's certainly understandable, HB, with driving a big rig! Praying for you as you work through this.

Aw, passport, I do miss you! How can you be crazy? You are living the life that you choose and it is a good life. Not only that, you give back and pay it forward by contributing and helping other drivers along the way. I would say that you have got it figured out.....a nice balance between work, play, and community service.....and being a truck driver is what allows you to do that. What other profession would afford you that opportunity? You are definitely doing ok.

jdmredneck, I am sorry about your phone. Enjoy your time out with your trainer and keep us posted when you can.

honeybadger, much of the soreness is most likely from tension and stress but if it continues you need to have it checked out. You know that the King had a very similar situation when another semi crossed the line and came over on top of him. He had nightmares....and said some amazingly colorful words in his sleep. It was horrible to see him get back in that truck the next morning and continue with his delivery.....but it was probably a good thing. I think it would have been even harder if there had been a break of a few days. It would have given him too much time to dwell on it. He experienced the same apprehension that you are going through right now....it made for a long few days. You will work through this feeling and as you are going over it in your mind you need to remember two things......1. You have no control over the stupidity of other drivers....2. Had it not been for your skill in maintaining control it would have been much much worse. You were aware of the bimbo beside you and you did everything possible when she did something stupid. There was nothing more that you or any other driver could have done.....All of that being said, now that you are making a paycheck, go buy a dashcam and use it! The King had a tendency to only turn his on sporadically in high traffic situations, it needs to be on anytime you are on the drive line. I am thankful that everyone was alright and will add my prayers to George's and jungHo's that you will soon be feeling back up to par.

travis, did you get your home time scheduled? Sorry, I wasn't around much yesterday to be able to help you and I was hoping that someone with more recent experience in Florida would answer. The King hasn't had a run to Florida in almost two years.....I was afraid that prices, etc. may have changed.

Stopped at a rest area 20 miles or so east of St. Louie, 11 was down to 90 minutes left headed into afternoon rush hour in the Lou. Can't risk getting written up for a third HOS violation. Still managed 550 miles plus for the day. 650 to go before my Sunday nite delivery. Hoping for a swap tomorrow so I don't have to sit around Sunday. Wonder if I should camp out in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area tomorrow which puts me 225 miles away, then drive the last four hours Sunday afternoon. Delivery is at 9pm. Saw a Coyote on the median meandering. Hope I don't have to go number 2. Oy vey. Have a great weekend.
