In two weeks, I will officially be another ghost of TransAm past. Maybe Pete can change the threads title. I am going to orientation with Cargo Transporters on June 15th in Claremont NC. I will always be grateful for the experience gained at TransAm and the friends I made there too. I loved traveling the heartland states and will miss that as Cargo stays in the northeast, southeast and midwest. I won't miss the crazy wait times at shippers and receivers and deliveries at weird hours. After TransAm changed my delivery to Saturday because of a 14 hour delay at the Ottumwa shipper, I ran this load two overnights to deliver today knowing hometime and a vacation in the morning to visit family in Florida awaits tomorrow. No way was I starting vacation late. Everything is coming together, at last. Actually got 2622 miles with that wait in Ottumwa and recovering two trucks this week plane ride (Phoenix) and bus ride KC to Cedar Rapids. I think Trans Am got their moneys worth with me. Highly recommend the Riverside restaurant at the Kum and Go in Ottumwa IA. Food is great and cheap. Deuces!!

George, congratulations! Now you join the ranks of a non starter company. In your travels just look at Trans Am equipment and Cargo's equipment. It speaks volumes! Good luck, safe miles and like the Dead sang, keep on truckin'! Call me if you need anything. Enjoy that vacation, you've earned it.

George was the last one of us still with TransAm ......makes me a little sad. Our thread has changed and so have we. It's almost like watching your kids grow up. We have gone through learning curves, ranting and raving, temper tantrums and frustrations ......and we have grown through all of it and by our support of one another.

I have read back through our thread recently.....Wow! We have done some good work here, folks! All of us need to take a look back. Take a good look at our numbers ....read Pete's first post for the TransAm Still thread. It speaks to the heart of what we have accomplished together.

I know we have been dragging a little here lately as our lives have changed and grown in different directions.....but the heart of who we are and what we have tried to do, not just for new TransAm drivers but for all new drivers, has stayed the same......and we must maintain the momentum. We change the industry and make it better for all of us when we help one another. There are some changes coming to this business and it is important that we stick together and navigate them. I have a couple of articles that I need to post for you all as I have time. Did you know that one of the biggest recommendations that the task force to develop industry training standards has made is to allow 18 year old drivers for OTR?

So, while I am getting things together ....you guys go back and take a good look at our thread. I think you will be surprised .....it will give you a good feeling to realize the good that we have done.

Johnboy, you must be speaking in regards to the trailers. I have to buy an inverter, fridge and not sure about GPS or Sirius radio either. TA has Kenworths, Cargo has freightliners. At least they are automatic. You and Craig can take credit for my development so consider it a small victory in the win column for you guys. I had no trainer here. I was my own trainer. Maybe that was the best thing for my stubborn, slow learning arse!
