    Also it has only been in the last 15 years that they have opened it to allow the general publicfull access to the system. When they first released it for public use you only had accuracy of up to 1000 yards from your locatioon. The military receivers actually required a code chip per say to allow for the accuracy that we see in todays units

    1000 yards was plenty 200 miles offshore
    when we only had compasses in 1975

    Compasses are great things to use. Had to use one over the weekend to get us back camp when the person we were following who supposedly knew where he was going admitted to being lost while riding.

    It does bring up an interesting question as to how many people can actually navigate using only a compass and a map though.

      Two Massillon police cars respond to Sterilite Corp. in Massillon on Monday after a truck driver was struck in the head by a bullet after exiting his vehicle.

      MASSILLONPolice were searching fields and a wooded area looking for clues after a truck driver was struck by a bullet outside Sterilite Corp. just before 3 p.m. Monday.According to an officer at the scene, the truck driver was climbing into his rig when he was struck in the head by a bullet. The driver walked into the terminal building seeking help, the officer said.City Police Chief Keith Moser said Monday afternoon the extent of the driver’s injuries was unknown, as was the caliber of the bullet.“It was a direct hit (to the head) but didn’t penetrate the skull,” the chief said.Moser had no further information regarding the incident and referred The Independent to the Police Department’s sergeant and lieutenant on duty Monday night. They were unable to be reached for comment.Massillon paramedics transported the man to Affinity Medical Center.Police were searching the fields around the building, including the former Stark County Farm property in southeast Massillon.
