parking is fine they tore down the old building all new but ruined the restaurant
the restaurant at Little America is closed but the grill at the fuel island is good. You can get a whole hot rotisserie chicken there just like costco:tongue8::tongue7::tongue7::tongue8:

Been running shorter trips lately. Last night after getting my windshield fixed, picked up bread trays off our yard in Claremont NC and took them to Sara Lee in Valdese. 25 miles. Bread load from there to Food Lion DC in Disputanta VA, 300 miles. Pickup dog food at Nestle Purinas in King William VA headed to Shelby NC, 365 miles to the Walmart DC. Deadhead to Claremont 50 miles. Pickup loaded trailer going to Lowes DC in Garysburg NC. 300 miles, then to home 20 for a couple of days. They kept me busy and close knowing I wanted to be home Monday.

It was a tiring day today. Went to a Memorial service for one of the friends that died last week. You forget how heartache can etch itself onto someone's face...how sad and painful it is. To be there knowing that there is nothing you can say or do ....other than to stand with them as they say goodbye to their loved one.

That is a difficult situation, Hometime Queen, but you being there (your presence) was most likely worth much to your friend's survivors/family.

Uh oh ....did we already scare you off, scott? :biggrin_25526: We're not that crazy ....honest!

I think I had told you all that I had bought the new Rand McNally tablet. Overall the King likes it. He doesn't need a GPS every day like he did so he just takes it with him as needed. I thought he might end up just taking his old Rand McNally with him, ( then I could have the new one since that is the one thing my car didn't have), but he prefers the new tablet.....which is saying a lot since he loved his other Rand McNally.

Well, Pete, we have almost reached the one year mark on the new thread. 7126 or so posts in one year....a little over 19 posts a day. Not too shabby. Good job everyone......I think we have accomplished some worthwhile things together.

    Welcome to the thread Scott!
I remember u mentioned u got a new GPS, I did not know it was the RM tablet. That seems to be the Cadillac of GPS units right now.

I like that unit, but I am too cheap to spring for it. I thought about building my own, get a $80 tablet and load it with a free copy of SygicTruck (TomTom Maps) that I have, then add a dash cam app, etc. However, I have just been to disorganized and lazy to pull it together. So instead, running with the $30 Rand McNally 510 that I got used off of ebay.

my 510 gets me around too
they really dont move the roads around much o_O
and i wouldn't use the rest of the bells and whistles
i have never used my phone except as wait for it........as a phone

:biggrin_25514: Oh Great and Mighty Cranky One, I was with you at first. We have had the same experience with combination electronics, TV/DVD for example, but then I remembered that we are old and thinking old!:biggrin_25522: :biggrin_2559: passport is correct....the tablet is really nothing more than one device.....a high quality tablet.loaded with Rand McNally's programs. You could take a tablet and load it with the same type of programs, buy a dash mount for it and have the same type of system. My cheap tablet has a camera, video camera, email, and a gps if I want to use it for such. I think the difference in this tablet is the quality. I don't have an ipad so I can not compare it to that, my tablet is a cheap little one....but was still close to $200. The difference in quality between my tablet and the RM tablet is tremendous.
The company that the King works for now uses tablets in their trucks .....without Rand McNally gps.....so far we are not impressed with the quality of them. However, there have been times that the office could not send him the information that he needed through their company program that is installed on the tablet.....so they simply send it to him in an email ....on the tablet.
It is a good thing, Pete, albeit more expensive than most GPS systems out there right now......but really no more expensive than a quality tablet.
